UNKNOWN
FOLKLORE
(starting point) How it arises from the unknown, exploring it as a way humans would rationalise the supposedly unexplained.
how we value having an answer and sth to believe over the hard truth
explore folklore as a:
- communities coping mechanism for harsh living conditions
- moral reminder
- scapegoat
potential questions answer through research:
1) and how it reflects existing morals and mentality of a community it arises from [ when its first concieved]
2) how it affects the morals & mentality of community it arises from ? [after having been apart of the culture for a long time ]
3) Is the psychology behind folklore similar to that of conspiracy theories?
4) How can it be relevant to modern society beyond entertainment and its original explanatory purpose?
5) depspite supposedly unique to local community - why many folklores similar?
6) what does modern folklore explore
Why interests me: Insight on how humans first formed narratives.
relevant to explore because as a vis commer: it can potentially inform me about how to draw attention to modern problems?
A START TO FMP IDEAS 1
What do I want to explore?? here’s my initial list of topics that are coming to my mind right now uhhh as of the 20/2 ... a bit late but lets just go!!
- importance of food to a culture, human relations and the foods between them: I know I’m attached to the food I eat, the act of offering the last piece/ offering is a seemingly universal sign of care - if people cant vocalise care or apologeticness , using food to appeal to that complex psychological entanglement individuals have is tapping into a really primitive aspect of our nature. TRUTHFULLY GOT LOST WITH WHAT ID WANT TO EXPLORE IN THIS QUESTION !!
Business Cards ...
Whilst going through the budget excel I began to think about the possible layout and the process of creating a business card. This was something I considered when vitally starting the project, I felt like I could potentially make business cards to hard out when I was doing street photography.
Denim denim denim : Razor Jeans
Online Denim Store Infleuncers/ store Page. The aesthetics of this website is very controversial. Razor’s aesthetic in general has a 90’s vibe, baggy mom jeans, jeans shorts and jeans shirts. Small detail about this website keeps the aesthetic pleasing to the viewer, with filler images of close ups, jewellery, shoes and digital editing to create a unique aesthetic. I like the variety of locations, mediums and subjects they have used to create this aesthetic and hope to learn from this for my own photo shoots.
Fashion Brands like Rzrdenim are one unlike big brands that focus of creating their own style and brand. They also do not take to the normal trends of fashion and have a great concept behind. Using old and up cycled denim the are creating sustainable clothing as well as creating a new look.
MOODBOARD
This is the first mood board that I have put together for the proposal of my idea at the beginning of the module. I have out together this mood board of various sources that have influenced the thought process or concept of this project, so far. I have also incorporated visuals references of works that I feel have the aesthetics I am looking to create in this project.
Ink Motion Capture
I want to do an experiment where I can capture ink in water flowing around planets that I would make that are connected to a piece of wood so that they stay hovering in the water, I will link the video that I found the other day that has given me inspiration for this experiment.
As we had been given a week to think of ideas for our FMP I had came up with 5 ideas, because of my limitations on money and which out of the 5 ideas I came up with I would find most enjoyable I have decided to choose my 5th idea which was to create my own legend or fantasy world, or maybe even do it on an already existing myth/legend. I will be researching into the myths and legends that interest me and then look at art that will suit the style of what I have chosen. I think this will give a good start to my FMP.
