I added all the collages onto the hangers and experimented with paper behind/ in between them. I am not too sure about the paper, as it is not see through and it contrasts too much with the transparent acetate. Tomorrow, I will try with baking paper, both plain and with some designs drawn onto them. I have bought some more colourful paper clips, small and big and will mix them up too. I want the collages, the hangers, the wooden pegs and the paper clips to be a whole, creating an interesting installation which is both intriguing from far away as well as from up close.
Tomorrow, I plan to play with placing the collages in a different way, so that there are fewer of them in the top and more in the bottom. I this way I want to create a sense of balance (top with hangers, bottom with collages). Also, I want to have one more hanger, hanging all the way down with a photo of the crushed strawberry. I don’t know whether it will fit with the composition but I’ll try. Having all the hangers already attached makes it pretty difficult to play with them, and needing someone to support me also limits what I can do. Another aspect is that I have access to the installation from one side only, so it is very easy to get entangled in all the hangers.
A thing I absolutely love about this space is that when the sun is shining pretty strong, I get beautiful shadows, and light reflecting on the sides and on the wall. If I open the windows, the wind will move the hangers, so that all the reflections and shadows will move too. Now, all I need is that sunshine when the exhibition is on...
And quietly, I really hope the space right next to my window will be empty, so that I can claim it and hang my paintings. But if it will be taken by someone, I still have a great spot with great installation!
