At the user's request I just had to uninstall a SuperMax board inside an old DX7. . That involved not only removing the SM extension board, but also burning a blank 27128 EPROM with the original Yamaha DX7 software on it (and printing its own EPROM label too! 😊), as well as placing two working, Mitsubishi 5118 SRAM chips in their respective IC sockets. As the synth was bought second-hand with the SuperMax upgrade installed, all these three, original ICs were inevitably missing. . While I was at it, I did the usual DX7 basic household maintenance by replacing the old and dead CR2032 battery (which was at .6V or something instead of 3V...) with a fresh-new one.
