Peru Tour Introduction and Prep Thus Far

100 Days till take-off So that you all can have an idea of what we will be doing on our trip I will tell you our unconfirmed itinerary for our 20 day tour of Peru booked with Free and Easy Traveller! (As taken directly off their information) Day 1-2 Lima Get acquainted with your group and spend a day exploring Lima together, taking in breathtaking parks & views (including the "Cat park"), spanish architecture, delicious food and drinks!

Day 3-5 Huacachina Hop on private transport en route to the Ica desert, Huacachina. Enjoy a Pisco Winery for small tour/lunch, hike the sand dunes, lounge by the pool and have your mind blown on our epic sunset Free and Easy Dune Buggying/ Sandboarding, overnight desert camping trip!

Day 6-10 Arequipa Take night bus to the cultural hub of Arequipa. Explore traditional markets, enjoy amazing food and drink. Embark on the optional (2 day, 1 night) guided Colca Canyon Trek through the worlds 2nd largest canyon, enjoy once in a life time views as condors hover above you in the sky, stay overnight/relax along the river and challenge yourself to conquer this 26 km feat!

Day 11-12 Cusco Cusco bound on our private bus, road trippin' style. Stopping along the way for lunch and a few other points of interest that we have up our sleeve ;) Get acquainted with Cusco and prepped for Machu Picchu.

Day 13-15 Machu Picchu Take private bus then executive glass rooftop train through the Andes to Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu town. Sunrise hike up Machu Picchu! Summit Machu Picchu mountain then explore the ruins of Machu Picchu site all with our hand picked guides for a unique experience. Spend another day hiking Inca trails, exploring the Machu Picchu ruins or enjoying Machu Pichhu town.

Day 16-18 Cusco Take executive train & private bus back to Cusco. Take this time to enjoy optional activities such as Bungy Jumping, Mountain biking, Incan hot stone massages, amazing shopping, White Water Rafting, Cooking Classes & of course the infamous nightlife.

Day 19-20 Lima Take private transfer to airport and flight to Lima. Enjoy these last moments with your group with some great food, shopping, and perhaps even a bit of paragliding over Lima.To live Free and Easy is to live without busy, rigid schedules. Each destination provides some amazing activities, but we make sure that free time is there so you can take part in all of them or none of them, do as much or as little as you want.

So seeing as there is so much adventure packed all into one I could not be more excited for this trip! 

At the moment we have our heart set on being able to hike the 26km two day Colca Canyon hike (its over 4000m deep!). So we are trying to get in at many hikes as the work schedule (and weather) allows as well as skiing and other activities to get in shape for the treck.

We’ve invested as well in a pair of good hiking shoes as well so we can break them in well ahead of time (Merrell Capra Sport with Gore-tex so we can use them here living in a wet climate). We spent a week or two after Christmas looking at shoes and these were the only ones that fit either of us, however they were $200CAD. We did a bit of digging and found the same colour size and model on Amazon for $130CAD which saved us quite a bit of money! 

We have also looked into our Vaccinations, some of which we have decided we will receive upon entering the country as it is a fraction of the cost to do so.

As of this moment in time there is not very much I can write as we still have quite a while to go! We will keep posting as we reach progress in preparation, learn new details and as much as we can during the journey! Cheers! -Victoria T - 100 Days until Take Off
