"El Cóndor Pasa" ( Colca Canyon / Peru )
On the Carretera al Colca (Colca Highway), passing herds of alpaca, llama, and vicuña, as well as the unique giant coots and Andean ducks which frequent the high Altiplano lakes. - From this point, the road climbs to 4910m (16,108 ft), one of the highest elevated passes in the world, nearly three miles above sea level. - I was so cold up near the apex, I was shaking; my right leg was like a sewing machine. My right hand was completely numb, the left hand I kept on the warm engine block. - Riding my motorcycle with herds of alpaca on either side of the road was a visual dream of mine, finally realized. - Impressive how hearty those fuzzy camelids are. I wish they were more into cuddling! - @senabluetooth #senabluetooth #rideconnected #alpacas #peru #puna #colcacanyon #patapampa #brrr @indianmotorcycle @rolandsandsdesign @memphisshades https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzwcpm0BTsB/?igshid=dn7j43isjmb3

Condor at Colca Canyon, Peru. August 2016.
Stepping into a geyser in Perú. Not a really good idea I think 😂. You can see the vapor coming out underneath us. This geyser is called “El Infiernillo” (Little Hell). It’s located near Colca Canyon, one of the world’s deepest canyons and home to the Andean condor. The geyser is imposible to find without a guide. If you find it try not to step into the geyser as I did 😉 #travelblog • • • #peru #travel #traveling #travelblogger #travelphotography #colcacanyon #geyser #geiser #nature #naturelovers #adventure (at Cañón del Colca / Colca Canyon)

Colca Canyon Tour
The sad thing about this specific story is I suffered and didn’t even achieve greatness of hiking to a summit or something of that nature.
Six in the morning, we woke up in the city of Arequipa. My throat dry and my nose runny, I quickly dressed for our 2 day tour to Colca Canyon.
On the bus, we drove through gorgeous, scenic, natural landscapes that reached some pretty high altitudes. My ears were the first to give signs of the oxygen decreasing. Then came the headaches. I was already stuffy, so you could say, I was definitely having problems breathing from a normal day. Thankfully, Peru had its special kind of medicine for high altitude- coca leaves. In the side of my mouth, I had a big ball of leaves that I chewed profusely. I felt like a country boy chewing tobacco.
The bus stopped to see alpacas, llamas, and pecunias. At night, we stayed in a relatively nice hotel (at least for backpacking standards). There I slept and slept and sweated and coughed and sniffed. I was pretty gross to say the least. Anyways, the next day we were able to see the magnificent Colca Canyon!
Next day. And NO Canyon. We drove up the mountain, only to be greeted with fog. It was a disappointment, but that is how it goes sometimes. However, we did see some beautiful sights (just not the showstopper)! It was like visiting NYC and not seeing Times Square.
