Wubstep was a runt, always has been, and always will be (yap sesh)
y’all know that Wubstep Calor is very short for a Wubbox (standing at only 15 ft when fully grown), but never quite thought about expanding on that fact until recently (today), so, here goes ig

Even before he was alive, he was behind the others. His box was dirty and dinged up when Metalsnap Calor found it, and it likely out there for a long time.
When he was activated, he stood at only 4’3 and was much more frail than other Wubblets, taking longer (a few hours instead of minutes after activation) for his systems to calibrate and start walking than normal.
For a few days, Wubz slept in a drawer on Snappy’s bedside table that Snappy kept open, this was his temporary bed as Snappy worked on a crib for him (which turned out to be too big for the little guy, but was perfectly sized for Subby to be snug in when she came along).
He was very clumsy when he was young, often tripping over himself when he tried to run. This combined with his short stature made him unpopular with the other kids, and as a result, preferred to stay with his dad who loves him regardless.
As he grew however, he stopped being as clumsy and became more energetic as he became more confident. This started to get him some friends, which he was really happy about, but it didn’t really help with him still being a runt, especially since his nickname in the group was “short stack”.
When Copper (one of his friends) moved from Water Island to Earth Island (bc of a job opportunity her mom got), Wubstep was glad to finally not be the shortest one in his group. But that was not forever, as she did become taller than him when she reached adulthood while he still remained 15 ft.
What happened with him and Frigidbreak on Cold Island only made it worse for him, as he was struck with a permanent limp after being tossed off a mountain by Frigid, which made him have to keep his left leg perpetually bent to accommodate his limping right leg. So even if he did grow just a little, his limp made sure that he was still stuck at being only 15 ft tall.
Yet even after all that, his family doesn’t care that he’s a runt, he’s still loved regardless, especially Wubz’s dad, Metalsnap.
Fun fact: Wubstep’s bond with his younger sister, Subliminal Aveus Calor, despite being rather strained for while due to her being taller than him at 16ft at 6yrs old already, was actually strengthened due to their shared experience of having a limb disabilities (Subby has a motor control disability in her right arm because of where she was struck by lightning). (Their sibling relationship aslo grew stronger as Subby became a chaos gremlin like Wubz is).
