“Kristoff, really it’s fin-” Rapunzel started to say, but was cut off by something one of the boys said. She couldn’t hear all of it, but she was pretty sure it was about Hufflepuff house, which made her upset. That wasn’t called for at all. Taking a quick second to scoop up her wand, the blonde stood by Kristoff’s side, wand at the ready.
“Look, just get out, we’re all going to be in tons of trouble if we’re caught out here, remember?”
At this, the boys glanced nervously at the castle- perhaps they’d forgotten the new rules thanks to the darker times. But they didn’t made any move to leave just yet. Two of them raised their wands at Kristoff, and Rapunzel held her breath.
“Look- we don’t want any trouble-” she began again, but the boy who’d she hit with the rock mentioned that it was too late for that, as he was bleeding from his probably broken nose.
Kristoff’s brow furrowed at the insult slung at him, and his house. He might not have had the biggest house pride out of the Hufflepuffs, but he still didn’t stand for others trashing his house -- least of all smug, self-centered, Slytherins who had just been hounding one of his few close friends.
“I suggest you listen to Rapunzel...unless you pricks want to suss this out the old fashioned way?” Kristoff growled, drawing his wand out as Rapunzel stood her ground at his side.
He almost thought they were going to chicken out, but after the initial second-guessing, they seemed to firm up on the decision to have a little outside-of-dueling-club match.
