Another Norwegian song i felt i needed to translate due to it just being a fantastic song, but this time i was also won over by the superb album art.
Hjuringstev (Herders staff) Poor little shepherd-boy Late to bed, upon the floor The milk was sour and blue Of the cheese, the smallest piece The butter, he never got to see Poor little Herder tending the flock In rain and storm, cold and damp Poor little herder, let him in In rain and storm, chilly wind

I couldn’t stop thinking about this beautiful Norwegian version of the traditional Scots folk ballad ‘Twa corbies”, so i decided to translate it to English for fun to the best of my abilities (gore tw though, the lyrics get pretty gruesome):
There i happened to across the meadow go when i heard two ravens holding council. One turned to the other: Whence shall we today get our feed? Whence shall we today get our feed? Behind old turf grass ditch yonder a newly vanquished knight surely lies, and no one else knows that there he lies besides his hawk, his hound, and his Beloved his hawk, his hound, and his Beloved His hound it hunts in the wild woods, His hawk it searches prey behind the clouds And his Beloved has entrusted herself to another So we can eat our feed in peace So we can eat our feed in peace. You can perch on his white neck-bones And i will peck out his eyes so blue. And with a curl of his yellow hair We’ll coat our nest next spring We’ll coat our nest next spring
