idk if this is a bit of a hot take, but I really wish Back to Nature got the remake and not Friends of Mineral Town.
i know Fomt is technically a remake of Btn, but BtN is a lot more story focused. i feel that the characters actually have a bit more subtlety and depth, there's just a bit more content in BtN which would have made up for the lack of rival marriages.
Fomt was a port to the gameboy, there were a lot of cuts and changes made to simplify while still making sure there was enough content to justify the games existence to buyers. i feel that caution when porting/remaking a game has been lost in the Switch era.
the FoMT remake just feels a bit hollow and empty, i know a lot of love and consideration went into that game, but the gamboy game needed more to feel like it adapted well to the switch. it feels like it only got a new coat of paint, and the reasons it's good are because the original was good, not because of anything they added.
I'm also tired of Story of Season games adding more marriage candidates, instead of developing the ones they have or writing more of a story. both the additional characters they added are very flat feeling, and i feel that the effort would have been better if it had been poured into something pre-existing in the base game.
