Where do you draw the line when it comes to angry customers? Have you ever been in a situation with an angry customer that made you feel unsafe? Is there a generational disconnect when it comes to customer service?

Sunday service
Pizza Parlour was, and still is, much-loved in Alma. With any luck, it will reopen. Image found on Pizza Parlour Alma’s Facebook page. My late brother Corey ran the Alma Pizza Parlour for years, quite successfully, but without people like his longtime love Carletta, he wouldn’t have had as much luck. Sure, Corey served sometimes, but Carletta and others did the heavy work in that area, and they…

There's food in the window. And you're talking on your cell phone.
SHOUT OUT TO THE WAITERS, WAITRESSES, AND SERVERS WHO TELL YOU THAT THEY ONLY HAVE SIERRA MIST WHEN YOU ASK FOR SPRITE! BLESS YOU! YOU SAVED ME FROM HAVING TO TASTE THE STALENESS OF SIERRA MIST WHEN I WAS EXPECTING THE REFRESHING TASTE OF SPRITE.
I’m not saying that working at a restaurant/food service isn’t fun or rewarding. You enter into a close-knit group of workers that becomes almost like another family. You learn to cook and prepare new dishes (not to mention taste them), to balance wide, heavy objects, to make charming comebacks on the spot and to banter with customers.
But the part about food service that takes all that away, that snatches what joy you could garner from a difficult job, is the rude, self-centered, petty, and downright cruel customers you get. Food service drains away your heart and soul because some grown-ass adult threw a public temper tantrum and sent you away in tears.
The manager at my first restaurant used to say don’t worry girls; at the end of the day, it’s just food and drink. It’s not a big deal. And it’s not. When you fuck up a customer’s order, it’s not a big deal. You’re not a heart surgeon operating on their child. You’re not a dentist extracting a tooth. You’re not a lawyer defending them in court. You’re giving them fucking food and beverages.
But for some reason, even when you smile, even when you apologize, and sometimes even when there’s no mistakes at all, customers think it’s their right and even their duty to dress you down, put you in knots, strip away your every dignity, chew you up, and spit you out on the floor.
So that’s the part that’s not fun about working food service.
An open letter from a waitress
I am a waitress. I have been a waitress for five years, and I have worked in both fast food and fine dining. Generally I am very happy to come into work mainly because it means I'm getting paid, and usually my time at work is not HORRIBLE. However, there are some customers who seem to love making others lives a living hell.. To those people: I am not the person who decides the price of your food, and if you were wanting to eat out you should have been prepared to pay what ever the owner or the restaurant has decided the price of the food is. That just seems so basic, right? Yes, food is expensive for restaurants to buy, and workers have to be paid for preparing the food. I am not being paid to stand here and explain to you why prices have changed. That is just the way the world works. No matter how much you yell and argue with me, I cannot change the price of your food. It is not my fault that the girl that served you yesterday gave you a special discount (that she probably was not qualified to give...) I have to charge you the full amount. This is why we must treat every customer the same, and I am sorry that someone gave you false hope for lower than normal prices. I am a waitress, and I really am working as hard as I can. I cannot make the cooks cook faster, and if your food is taking longer than you expected, I'm sorry. I am doing everything I can to get it out to you. Fast food does not, or should not, mean out in one minute. We do not pre-make our food. We make it once you order it, and YES it is going to take a few minutes.. Maybe more... But wouldn't you rather have your food taste good .. And know it hasn't been sitting on a hot plate for three hours? I realize this is not everyone, and I am thankful to those of you who are always patient with us. To those of you who are not so good hearted.. Please, think about how we feel. We are just trying to make a living. Thank you. - Waitress
Food Service Where the manager tells you that people can only order what's on the menu and can't order breakfast for dinner Unless the customer is pissed off and complains then it's my fault that I didn't give them breakfast for dinner or make them a special meal that wasn't on the menu
“Is there lobster in the lobster salad?”
