Thought I'd display the Ringbearer artwork from the story minus the lyrics. Hopefully, each Ringbearer's story (at least the basic gist of them, got some more complicated details in my mind lol) is still pretty clear with just the visuals.

It has just occurred to me that I have made twenty-five of these things in between work, school, and family stuff. I have no idea how I did that without my arm falling off.

Ballad of the Ringbearers, Pt. 2

In which I have reworked the Muckess from that She-Ra episode into a Ringbearer whose claim to fame was the first Sorcerer’s Quest, the first official Mage Emblem, and stopping the Trollan Civil Wars. On that last one, long story short, in this AU Gorpo killed the other Overlords, and after he was banished (in this version by He-Ro, the Elders, and the Oracle) and the Oracle was trapped on Preternia, factions rose up on Trolla and started fighting for power (among them a certain cult that’ll be mentioned below). 

She’s the only Ringbearer to ever have been an Overlord, mainly because the citizens asked her to be. After her passing, her successors in both roles realized that the jobs should be kept separate. 

As for her husband, Blim, he still exists but he’s a toymaker that just wants to spread joy. The two loved each other very much and had a set of twins. 

Anyway, on to the next Ringbearer:

And then there’s the song mage of the Ringbearers, Ero-Dee! 

Normally song mages don’t do Sorcerer’s Quests, but Ero-Dee did one for kicks and ended up with the Oracle Ring. Naturally, the Unnamed Order (first formed at the beginning of the Civil Wars, was well on its way to taking over until Foosabella came along, and then went on to cause trouble for her and her crew) decided he was a threat and started gunning for him. 

Anyway, he was the first Ringbearer to actually kill a Destroying Angel (Foosabella had driven her off before, but hadn’t figured out a way to get rid of her for good). This is the origin story of the Horn of Evil and the Ringbearer-Destroying Angel rivalry, and he’d end up fighting a few more DAs before his passing. 

He was also interested in enriching and protecting traditional Trollan culture, and passing things down to the next generation. Trollan artists of all kinds (art, music, dance, etc.) found him an inspiration.

Anyway, coloring these things was a pain and a half, but I have two more Ringbearers to cover, so this’ll be continued in the next post.

And so, I design the Ringbearers! 

Basically, they’re the rare few Trollans who earned the Oracle Ring mage emblem, becoming some of the most powerful wizards of their world, and are basically Trolla’s “Champions”. They all had the potential to become “Oracle”, but only two of them here ever become that (the staff holders). 

Arzon is based on the Oracle of Zalesia from the 200x cartoon (which, funny, a bunch of us decided that some Trollan in the woods that gave advice to King Grayskull was Important), and Foosabella is a reworking of a character that appeared in the She-Ra episode on Trolla, who was basically the queen (with a different name for the title that I really don’t care for) and the smarter one between her and her husband. Honestly, I prefer the Overlords of Trolla ruling the planet, but for my AU I decided to have fun with her and make her the only Ringbearer who was an Overlord.

They all have stories, but I don’t want to bore you with my rambles.
