I can't just sit idly by and watch the good name of Ma'am Nancy be eaten by a mindless pack of wolves. I know her and she's one of the most nurturing educators I have ever met. Let me tell you guys my somewhat similar experience: When I went to confirm, or in her words reserve, my slot for Literature at The Faculty of Arts and Letters in The University of Santo Tomas, I was very nervous because the requirements that I needed to pass weren't complete. I didn't have a letter of good conduct and my high school alma mater told me that it won't be ready til a week after the confirmation day. But I still went there with hope that the admin would understand my situation. So there I was, filling out forms that would seal my fate as a Thomasian ArtLet. Once I was through filling them out I walked to the front of the room to pass them together my requirements. When I was asked by Dean Tangco (I didn't know who she was back then but I still found rather intimidating) where was my letter of good conduct was I nervously started to explained my predicament. As I was telling her what happened I felt like she was looking at me suspiciously making me more nervous because this might blow my chances with the university. Once I was finished, and waited to be humiliated, she just looked down at the forms on her desk and told me to just give the letter to dean's office once it was ready. Ok, so I didn't talk to Ma'am Nancy during that time and I wasn't having any financial problems but I almost didn't get in UST. I know what you're all thinking, it was just a measly letter but for all UST knew I could've been in a lot of fights or I could've sold drugs or I could've been drunk in class. I mean, for all they knew I could've paid somebody to make me a fake letter at Recto. But no, they understood my situation and gave me another chance. REMEMBER: IT'S IMPORTANT TO GO TO THE CONFIRMATION DATE! Don't say that money is the reason why you didn't make it 'cause no amount is too big for the price of your dreams. You could've issued a promissory note or an I.O.U. or anything that was applicable for that situation. And if you really want something and you know that it's really for you, you'd fight to the death and overcome all the odds to have it. You should've asked if there was any solution to your problem, and trust me there are A LOT. But don't go complaining about the system of UST when you aren't even in it. And just because you're pride has been wounded it doesn't give you the right to ruin Ma'am Nancy's reputation. But let me tell you something, once you get your degree and go back to Ma'am Nancy to brag it in her face she'll give you the sincerest smile and congratulate you for it. Let's see how you'll feel about that.
