i started working on this before the new game was even ANNOUNCED, let alone out, so i am sorry if these don't reflect the current depictions/lore, i do not own a switch 2 & i only know so much from screenshots posted/shared)
wolf o'donnell
his full name is thomas wolfgang o'donnell, no i won't be taking questions at this time.
first generation of his family born on corneria after they moved from macbeth for a better life, raised by his single mom and his grandparents. grew up on corneria in a small fishing town way on the coast of the mainland, far, far, away from corneria city. dreamed of the skies
trans man (he/him), everyone knew the second he could talk & he transitioned early (bc no one in the lylat system gives a damn abt that 2 me)
acespec (demisexual) and arospec (demi/biromantic). he has plenty of sexual experiences but it takes him until he's much older to realize that apparently ppl actually feel sexual attraction towards others... & don't just go through the motions/not feel anything towards others most of the time.
he has autism (i forgot to mention in my star fox post that fox has adhd, slippy also has autism lol)
severely allergic to shellfish, specifically mollusks (can eat crusteaceans!). he can't even touch them without risk of going into anaphylactic shock
the duality of wanting to be the leader & do things alone & doesn't need/want friends & yet his instincts have him looking out for his pack & caring so much abt them, even if he doesn't necessarily like them... (he yearns for connection but struggles... he was a lone bounty hunter for years before pigma approached him to create star wolf <- canon lore)
jay ward's voice for wolf in super smash bros brawl, ultimate, star fox 64 3d, star fox zero, & starlink is my go-to. the deepness of his voice & the way it can still jump/crack/have a gravel to it & those doggie ass whines when he gets hit in smash bros are 👌 (moreso brawl when he is portraying grant goodeve's assault wolf BUT i like mixing it with starlink wolf's voice jay ward does if that makes any sense!!)
super high pain tolerance to the point of it being a little concerning for his teammates (think 64/zero when star wolf has all those cybernetic enhancements & then wolf has bandaids)
sense of humor so dry and flat that it feels like sand is being thrown in your eyes. he is genuinely funny (if you can tell/know when he's joking but most people can't. his flat delivery & completely straight face are hard to read)
his special interest as a pup was insects. fish were so BORING to him, being around it 24/7. he'd see insects with their wings, flying naturally on their own without the usage of a big metal ship & wish he could grow his own wings. he had a pet preying mantis growing up. an orchid mantis named vanilla (vanilla beans come from a vining orchid & yes wolf know that)
when he grins, his lips lift up and split apart in that cheesy way that dogs tend to do when you see their gums and teeth on full display. cheesin. he also snorts if he laughs hard enough (he hates it)
willing to do any job and will see it through. he's a scoundral, BUT a weirdly honest and prideful scoundral (<- also based on japanese 64 lore/stuff finally revealed in new game...). he will get Shit Done. he abides by his contracts, even if it costs him...
leon powalski
64 japanese lore says leon is believed to be an alien that migrated from another star system, so i like to take that & say he migrated while very young & was essentially raised on venom (basically he's venomian, he says he is venomian)
THE best sniper in the lylat system. hands down.
everyone on star wolf is at least a little scared of him (yes, including wolf early on). leon takes great joy in this, esp with the reputation venomians have had across the greater system over time (bad reputation... i like this post abt rumors cornerians use abt venomians & basically how leon would react when asked LOL)
can in fact change the color of his scales, based on camoflauge or emotion... it ends up being mostly for camoflauge, but when he can't control his emotions and they show, it's a little treat for everyone (very pretty) but he hates being gawked at for it (as he should)
gay, gay, homosexual, gay !! loves men!! loves wolf. his type is... wolf. guys like wolf. decked in leather, strong, able to tear leon to shreds (& he can also, in turn, do the same to them, if he so desires)
even if they don't end up together romantically (depends on my au/my mood... love woleon tho), leon views wolf as His Person. (they are each other's person. wolf agrees. no neither of them ever put a name to it or say that. they just Know).
has a basking rock with a nice big heat lamp over it in his quarters on the sargasso station (and also had one in his quarters on venom during the lylat wars). likes to lay on it and have his Quiet Time.
ja green's voice for leon in 64/zero/starlink is my preferred choice for him!!!
loves being unpredictable. loves being ominous. loves toying with everyone around him & making them think he'll kill them in their sleep. also loves sneaking up on everyone (wolf doesn't get scared anymore & it's no fun for leon... thank the lylat star for panther caroso :))
has yellow horizontal stripes that run down his back across his sail fin
has a specially made heated full body suit for if/when he has to go to cold planets/areas like fichina. would rather just avoid having to set foot down there entirely and stay in his wolfen, tyvm (he will go into a coma if he gets too cold)
gets annoyed by the Mammals he's constantly surrounded by on the star wolf team, esp when they don't take their FUR OUT OF THE SHOWER DRAIN AND CLOG IT!! (wolf, andrew, panther...)
his rivalry with falco dates back to when falco was part of free-as-a-bird. leon doesn't delve into specifics much abt their past, but seeing falco, seeing falco "play pretend" abt caring, being a hero... leon thinks it's hilarious. (<- loved their dialogue in starlink dlc when leon calls falco out abt not caring abt the ppl they saved from him & falco dodges it instead of outwardly denying)
andrew oikonny
grew up in aristocratic society on corneria, actually was acquainted with fay a few times (she didn't like him very much lol)
the tallest of the first gen of star wolf and i will stand by that until i die. he's tall and it's the only thing truly imposing abt him & reminds folks of andross (and then he opens his mouth lmfao...) also he's very lanky. not much mass on him.
loves anime & manga. posters all over his room, as well as duper expensive collectables and figures.
hated that he had pigma assigned to him to watch over him, followed by star wolf, moreso bc he thinks I DON'T NEED PROTECTING!!! but then when he feels like they aren't doing their job he'll Complain and Whine about it
andross is actually actively putting a lot of pressure on him as his heir but also babies/spoils the shit out of andrew so it's very counterintuitive
the rest of star wolf call him "andy" (esp wolf & pigma) & he initially hates it but eventually has the attitude that THEY are the ONLY ones allowed to call him that & will get pissy when anyone else tries, even after he leaves star wolf
love mike west's whiney ass voice for him in zero/starlink but i also rlly like his voice for the new switch 2 game... haughty... a brat... i also like mike west as both fox and andrew bc they can mock each other LOL... BUT ALSO his new va for star fox (2026) is so peak... might be the new choice... (brandon hunt!!)
he left star wolf by his own accord, and sort of being fired. he was the source of their money, being a nepobaby, even after andross's demise, he has enough funds to keep them afloat. however, he left/got fired bc he hated that wolf refused to try & help him bring back andross' empire. in his mind, he is the new contractor for star wolf, & wolf should be listening to him (this takes years to blow up in their faces, tho)
very technologically gifted. pigma is an engineer/mechanic & is very practical, but andrew is very inventive & views things through that lens rather than knowing what already exists & fixing what's there (not that pigma can't create, but again, very practical), while andrew has his uncle's... experimental mindset.
never focuses too much on his sexuality or gender, assured that he knows who he is & what he's about, but sometimes his mind wanders & he questions... that or his eye wanders & he doesn't know what to do with his feelings... might have a small crush on slippy, but he can't and WILL NEVER admit that to anyone. (bicurious, and kinda curious abt his gender, but again, never allows himself to explore)
monkey hand-feet... likes to climb around & hang from the ceiling. likes scaring the shit out of pigma and wolf (he can never get leon off guard and frankly, he doesn't want to find out what would happen if he did)
was never aware of what andross had done to himself, his "true"/final form. never knew the final bioexperiment his uncle had done was on himself. will never believe anyone if they were to tell him otherwise. after all, the only one in there to see it was fox... and what would he know?
there was crossover between him leaving and panther joining the team. it was brief... but they got along alright, shockingly. panther made andrew feel weirdly seen and wasn't always nagging him/treating him like a child. it was nice.
pigma dengar
was an engineer that worked under andross for the cornerian defense force. he went to the academy with peppy and james. a skilled pilot but also very much a mechanic and that was the courses he mainly took
introduced james to vixy reinard (fox's mom) as she was a fellow employee under andross and the rest was history
drew the original star fox logo (<- star fox 64 3d japanese manual lore yay)
his crass and blunt attitude is part of why he was asked by james to join star fox. james wanted pigma to sort of keep him in check & thought he could rely on him to be honest abt his thoughts. this was true... in the beginning...
but also he rlly is a top notch mechanic. one of the best. <- another reason he was asked
as time went on, pigma rlly started feeling like he was doing more than he was getting in return. WAY more. he vocalized this to james frequently & would even dog on him for it, but james would never give in, saying pigma was asking for way more than he had & even if he had it, it wouldn't be enough (he's right).
pigma truly believes money makes the universe spin. if you have money, you have food, access... no worries at all. money is what keeps everything afloat & being picky abt what jobs they take, esp as james starts growing less morally grey in his decisions on what jobs they take as time goes on (aka, he & peppy became fathers), it grinds pigma's gears.
andross & him are/were very good friends. andross was also a very reliable source of money, being as wealthy as he was... sure, he was doing unspeakably... immoral... bioexperiments, but who's pigma to say what ppl should & shouldn't do if it doesn't affect him directly...?
would be asked to watch fox & lucy (& then slippy...) while they were kids. he always groaned abt it but maybe... maybe he had a soft spot for the kids. maybe... at a point... maybe that soft spot lingers... sometimes
pigma trains himself to not think, just do, esp if it's for his benefit in the end. when he wants to make sure he doesn't hesitate or have second thoughts, he doesn't talk to himself, he imagines james or peppy negging him & he acts as a sort of retailiation/middle finger. bc he can do what he wants & so what? he's MUCH better off than them.
star wolf was him & andross' idea. pigma approached wolf abt it & it wasn't hard. all he had to do was stroke wolf's ego & boom. a known, solo-for-years bounty hunter was now the leader of an elite mercenary squadron, hired by andross. & pigma just so happens to be on the team... certainly nothing to do with its formation...
he stays with star wolf after andross' death bc it's the most secure option for him. & he, despite his internal denial abt it, does get attached. he's spent far more time with them than he ever intended & it's different from star fox. peppy & james had their own families & pigma could come & go as he pleased. now with star wolf as a very wanted traitor & fugitive of the cornerian empire? he's with star wolf 24/7. he knows them. more than he ever wanted to.
the scars on his head, the ones he has in star fox assault... those are from wolf, when pigma got kicked out. no one else was around when it happened. neither of them give the details when asked.
panther caroso
he is cerinian. thank you 🫶
left cerinia long before it's destruction, wanted to chart his own path and explore and felt stifled by his family. they were well off & he was expected to make them even More well off. they arranged for him to be married without him knowing until the day before the wedding & that was the final straw. he left without another word.
yes, he knows the fate of cerinia after it happens... he feels it (empathic powers, similar to krystal, but he doesn't have her true telepathy). despite his choice to leave everything behind, it wounds him severely. he never regretted leaving, but he hates that the choice to return had been taken from him
he is a lover of the chase, but he is also a genuine lover. ik they make him a cassanova/rogue, but i also want him to be a genuine sweetheart. yea he'll have a one night stand but he will Yearn afterwards, even if he knew nothing abt them but their name. he loves the thrill from the chase but he doesn't want the chase to be for Nothing
idc what assault/command have him do, if someone tells him no/doesn't reciprocate, he backs off immediately. (this is essentially me putting how i would rewrite him if he were to come back. the amt of gross latine stereotypes written into him just... :/ yea, product of 2005 or whatever but that doesn't mean he has to stay the same.
he puts the pan in pansexual (in all seriousness, he doesn't feel particularly attracted to one gender more than any other when he feels attracted to someone!!)
the most "normal" out of everyone on star wolf. like. the most Stable, emotionally & mentally. after andrew & pigma leave, panther is star wolf's grounding force. he is their sturdy rock... he's some Guy, but he's an emotionally intelligent guy.
a known thief for hire, i think he'd be like pierre despereaux from the tv show psych (<- linked is a compilation of the main character's very obv crush on despereaux) at least in terms of skill and demeanor (omg cary elwes panther voice claim... might as well make him like wesley from the princess bride, too)
when he drops the facade, he's extremely down-to-earth, chill, and genuine. however, he is also a Really Great Liar, but that's for when he's working/on a job.
the second tallest of star wolf, barely shorter than andrew, but much broader and has more muscle than andrew's string bean ass. panther 🤝 wolf <- being team muscle
panther's more... sophisticated tastes/demeanor & leon's haughtiness combined with their egos tend to have them clash quite a bit, but it's never beyond annoyance. panther loves annoying and teasing leon.
the white on his face is a scar and a tattoo. the tattoo covers a scar from when he was a child on cerinia, and it travels down his neck and swirls over to his right shoulder, creating a sun pattern on it.
an exceptional pilot, he didn't join star wolf for being a chump LOL. he was asked to join after he was caught by wolf & leon trying to steal from them for a job. they're some of the only people who have ever actually caught panther. during his escape, his piloting impressed wolf. wolf & leon finding him during & afterwards impressed panther. he was hired from there (game respects game)
krystal
obv given my previous hcs for panther, krystal is NOT the lone survivor of cerinia (even if panther isn't cerinian, i doubt that she would actually be the last one). she is one of ppl who escaped, & unfortunately escaped by herself
adopted by randorn and loves her father and brother (sabre!!) dearly!! i don't hc the original dino planet lore of randorn killing off her entire tribe & adopting her after. (it's a super fascinating arc/thing for his character but i think it would be Too Much esp with how krystal ended up being/her backstory in the star fox games)
her parents were young & felt they were not equipt to take care of her, so they gave her to an adoption center on cerinia. she was not even a year old. randorn scooped her up (he had been looking to adopt following the death of his eldest son <- that is from dino planet, him losing his eldest son)
she has both telepathic & empathic abilities. these are common on cerinia, at different levels for different folks, but they can also be trained, like a muscle. she also has synesthesia, specifically chromesthesia (sounds -> colors) and emotional synesthesia (emotions trigger a response to another sensation such as smell, taste, texture, etc. emotions trigger taste & smell for her. synesthesia is not common on cerinia)
her staff was a gift from randorn and he helped her become more in tune with it. it rlly is connected to her & it does feel "alive." sabre's sword also has magic & is atuned to him/feels "alive", too.
cerinia & papetoon are on opposite ends of the entire lylat system, JUST outside of the lylat system (aka, technically not in/part of the lylat system). the closest planet IN the lylat system to cerinia, is sauria, hence all the stations and pads & such connected to krystal's staff on sauria in sf adv!! (me making fox & krystal's home planets literally opposites & making them the fire & ice/sun & moon... thank u 🫶)
pansexual!! (also polyamorous!!) being so emotionally in-tune with people around her has her feel/sense them at their most vulnerable & she takes it so seriously, esp from those that are harder to connect to & put down their walls to let her in (ex: katt, fox, falco, wolf, etc).
since this is a star wolf hc list i'm gonna share my hcs for when she is on the star wolf team!! she doesn't actually seek them out initially, but rather they have a run-in with each other while she's working solo & panther makes the suggestion & that's when krystal feels a link between her & panther that's familiar & she then insists she will be a member of star wolf & they need her.
during her time on star wolf, yes, she does help mellow them out/acts as a moral compass/the heart, but she also becomes far more morally grey. her telepathic powers grow stronger in the... psychic persuasion side of things (mind control? kinda? she doesn't like. do it for Evil™️ purposes but say someone who hires star wolf double crosses them & is abt to blow them up she might make them back away from the button & knock themselves out type shit).
she keeps her custom arwing model- the cloud runner- as her ship & keeps it painted blue despite no longer being part of star fox. despite it all, she feels it, deep down, that she could return to star fox someday. even then, she doesn't want to tie herself completely down to either team
she learns to rlly appreciate star wolf, even love them (friends, family, whatever u want them to be). they really learn to be vulnerable with her (and each other!) & they all have mad respect for her.
i like making her fur on her head curly!! (where marcus gets his curls from!!) i also think she dyes the fur on her head but when she doesn't, it's white like her face/patterns!! it's dark blue when she's with star fox, and more violet when she's with star wolf (<- wolf rlly like the violet! his favorite color!)
her, leon, & panther have a little book club!! they have a new book each month & have little meetings on sargasso abt it!! other sargasso residents/ruffians notice & it becomes a bigger thing led by her!! eventually, wolf gets dragged into it too, but ONLY bc he refuses to be left out of what happens on HIS station (he had fomo) (she has all of these doofuses wrapped around her fingers <3)
