ohhh the things they would have said to each other :(
I'm a waitress at Burger World... It's not the most glamorous job but anything to pay the bills. Well. There's this kid who comes into the restaurant everyday. Some kid from Domino High.
He's always injured. Bruises, cuts, gashes. A meek and messy kid. Probably just back from school. Definitely an attractive target for bullying.
He's always alone.
I'd taken notice a week or so ago. He's been coming in for much longer, but he's so insignificant that you forget he's even there, despite his strange hair and fashion choices. You'd think he'd stick out. But he doesn't, like a whistle in the wind. My co-workers (particularly the cashiers who always loved the act of gossip on the clock) were the first to take notice of him. "Ever noticed that kid? The weird, small one with all the bandages and the.. Thing around his neck? He always orders 2 full meals and no one ever sits with him.. He kinda freaks me out."
I remember telling them that it's rude to say that, but then as I noticed more about him I felt the same feeling.
He's a sweet kid really. Smiley. Polite. Always tips. Eats his food as cleanly as he can, tidies his booth, throws away his food wrapping and leaves without ever causing issue. Even apologises if he stutters too much when ordering; and always orders the same food.
But there's something.. Wrong. About him.
Maybe it's his vibe.. Or that creepy object he hangs around his neck. The object that feels like it's staring daggers deep into your soul.
Maybe it's the way that while only ever being alone, he always orders 2 meals, and you never see him eating the second meal but it's always gone when you look back at him in an instant.
Maybe it's the way that despite being alone, it feels like someone is lurking next to him. Invisible. But cold. Dangerous. Like you can feel hundreds of eyes staring back at you, watching you move as you walk past the booth.. Even though no one is ever around. Feeling like your skin sticks with pickles of fear and danger when near him.
Or the way he always looks so.. Unnaturally wired. Eyes wide and blown out.. Face somehow soft but exhausted and scared and anxious all on one expression. The feeling that he's not fully in his right mind, but also so perfectly aware of what's happening to the point of constant paranoia. And when he eats he's so.. Ravenous. Like he hasn't eaten for days. When his food comes he can barely stop to thank you before tearing into the burger like a starved animal.
Or maybe it's the feeling I get when I look at him; like this kid who's so sweet and gentle and possibly the nicest kid to ever grace high school, could snap at any minute.
But whatever it is.. He scares me.
Maybe I'm the one being paranoid. But there's something wrong about this kid called Mutou Yuugi. I'd implore you to be careful around him.

I wrote this back in December and abandoned it in my drafts. I had art to go with it, but had a complete meltdown over it. Ended up leaving this to rot because I couldn't make the drawing work, and felt like everything I make is worthless if its not accompanied by a drawing.
Tbh I'm still working on it - this feeling that I am worthless if I cannot provide drawings. It was because of these feelings that I stopped writing entirely. But while working on something else I saw this short thing and thought "bro that's cool AF why didn't I post that? It might get lost in my drafts.."
Maybe one day I can go back and draw what I wanted to have with this. If you wanna know - this was a part of a minific I was writing in the perspective of a stranger who observes Yugi's possession VIA puzzle from afar after Yami "punishes" one of the stranger's family. I struggle to motivate myself to write much because I don't know where to post it anymore, but maybe I'll give it a rewrite and show yall someday.

Steve Harrington x reader
Note: This is my first time writing any form of fanfiction! I’m really not sure if I’ll end up continuing this. I just have so many ideas that pop into my head and it's hard to find fics that satisfy said ideas, so I thought I'd give writing a try. If people see this and enjoy it, maybe I’ll continue it. Maybe it’ll just get deleted. Who knows!
Dad!Steve. He doesn’t know though. Reader was gone for the whole quarantine. Raising her kid. But she's back. And Steve's still there.

January, 1988
The air is still cold this time of year. A layer of snow coating the streets. Christmas lights clinging to the overhang of the Family Video entrance despite the holiday season being over. Leave it to Keith to neglect taking them down.
The drive through Hawkins was… weird. It’s been almost two years since you’ve been here. Which really isn’t that long, but it's felt like a lifetime. Maybe that's got something to do with the sleeping one year old girl bundled in a light purple puffer jacket balanced on your hip.
After the “earthquake” split Hawkins in two, your parents made the decision to leave. And being the supportive daughter you are, you left with them. Boldly assuming that, since you weren’t moving far, you could still come back and visit frequently. Help the rest of the group figure out what the hell was going on with Vecna and the Upside Down.
But almost directly after you left, Hawkins was put under military quarantine. You had to find that out after they blocked off all the roads leading in and out.
So here you are. Back in your hometown, walking into the last place you remember your best friend Robin working. Hoping that, maybe, her best friend still works there too.
The bell above the door rings as you enter. You don't see Steve. Or Robin. But just your luck, you see Keith. He glances up like he doesn’t recognize you. He probably doesn’t.
“Hey.” You take a second to think before just spitting it out.
“Is Steve here?”
He gives you that blank look that seems to never leave his face.
“No.”
Shit.
“Okay. Uhm, is Robin?”
“No.”
You blink. Unresponsive shithead.
“Do they still work here?”
“No.”
You take a deep breath. From annoyance or stress you’re not fully sure.
“Do you know where either of them work now?”
He eyes you. Then the bundle of purple polyester in your arms. He sighs. Heavy and bored. Like getting asked questions is the most draining, inconvenient thing ever.
“Radio station.”
“WSQK?”
“mhm.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
The bell rings again as you leave the building. The bundle’s still sleeping. So you gently secure her in her car seat. Thinking of Steve and Robin. At the radio station. It's not too far, nothing really is in Hawkins. And it's still relatively early, so maybe there's a chance of them being there.
You get into the driver's seat, turning the ignition before switching on the radio. It takes a few tries, but you find the WSQK channel. And are met with the sound of Robin rambling about some special deal Melvalds is having on laundry detergent. You’d know her voice anywhere.
So Robin’s a radio host. But you don't hear Steve. Is he a host too? He never really seemed like the type.
As if on que Robins finishes her ad segment, calling to “Sound-guy Steve” before a sound bite of cheering fills the car.
A sound guy. That's more fitting.
You pull out of the parking lot. Driving in the direction of the station.
You aren’t sure what you’re going to tell Steve once you see him.
“Hey! Remember that time we hooked up and I skipped town and couldn’t talk to you or see you for almost two years? Anyways, you have a kid!”
Stupid.
The drive doesn’t take long, and by the time you reach the station, Robin is closing up the morning broadcast. Static fills the car the second you turn it off.
The wind nearly slams the car door shut behind you. And just like that, she wakes up. Not crying, but making a small sound of startlement before babbling about nothing. You grab her before you can chicken out, kissing her forehead before walking up the front door of the building.
The station is much warmer inside. The air smelling faintly of coffee, cardboard, and some kind of must. Rounding the corner, you see an empty radio booth, and the back of someone with a short, dirty blonde bob, sliding a few vinyls back onto their shelves. Before you know it, Robin is turning around to see who just walked in, and nearly screeches.
“HOLY SHIT!”
You give her a small smile. That’s your best friend.
“Hi, Rob.”
She’s on you in seconds, hugging you, unconsciously avoiding the baby on your hip.
“What are you doing here?! When did you get here? Did you know about the quarantine? Of course you knew, who didn’t? Ohmygod I missed you! So much. Seriously, what are you doing here? And- whos this?”
She finally registers the small girl in the purple jacket.
You open your mouth but it's not your voice that you hear.
“Robin? What the hell are you screaming abo-“
Steve stands there. Frozen in the doorway of what looks like another storage room. Hand still on the knob. He's looking at you with this soft look of surprise you don’t think you’ve ever seen before. He breathes your name out. Like his breath stopped in his chest and stayed stuck till he said it. Those warm, brown eyes pull away from you, landing on the girl in your arms, before shifting back.
You take a deep breath.
And give him a small smile.
“Hi, Steve.”
