This branch suddenly broke off in the middle of the day! Apparently we have Woody Woodpecker relatives in our yard and the tree served them with an eviction notice. It's amazing and beautiful how they can carve a perfect hole in the tree to nest in! Notice that there is a second hole right where the branch broke off! Apparently this was an apartment building under construction..
