#Repost @weshoyot with @get_repost ・・・ #pinemountain in the back country of the Los Padres National Forest, California is scheduled for the Forest Service to "selectively log old growth forest and chaparral across 755 acres". They released this information during the #covid19 pandemic and are only allowing 30 days for public comment, with NO environmental impact statement. Also devoid of the conversation, is the voice of the Indigenous inhabitants to this and surround lands, where MANY cultural sites, archeological sites and sacred sights are located. Not only is this incredibly detrimental to the plant and animal relatives living in this untouched ecosystem, but there is the potential of either destroying or damaging milling stones, archeological evidence, and/or sacred lands with heavy equipment. This and surrounding lands belong to the various bands of Chumash relatives, of who's land I live on. This piece is to bring awareness to the fact that Pine Mountain, Reyes Peak, and all surround lands are CHUMASH Lands, First and foremost the Chumash people from ALL bands , federally recognized or not, should have been notified of this potential ecological disaster. They have every right to demand this to stop immediately, demand an EIS, demand cultural monitors be on site at all times, and demand respect for the land that has been in their keeping for thousands of years. Many thanks to @brujascholar for picture references of the land Please share this message far and wide. @lpforestwatch @brujascholar @bryant.the.shrublander @westbeach805 @ojairaptorcenter @bartsbooksojai @ojai_valley_news @patagonia @comradeannie17 @meztliprojects @teresameichuc @alan.salazar.1942 #forestwatch #chumash #pinemountain #reyespeak #ojai #california #chumashland #landback #logging #forestservice #deforestation #tendingthewild #amplifymelanatedvoices https://www.instagram.com/p/CBrIic3g2ab/?igshid=ftt030x1sp3k
