Disappointing the disappointed
Poem by belled-ing
How does someone continue to fail? Is there a point where failure hurts less? Disappointment is a fickle emotion. No one can truly describe how it feels. It can be the hollowness in your chest, The thought of losing something you never had, A stab in the back, It can at the same time silence your thoughts and make them rush. But for each person, it’s different, A universal feeling played out in countless ways. Somehow, disappointing the disappointed isn’t hard. Their expectations are already on the floor, yet you still find a way to dig into the ground. You can never understand why. It’s not as though you’re trying to fail. You try, and try, and try, yet it never works. You seem to be the picture of perfection, But with only one achievement. The only thing you have ever achieved: Disappointing those who expect nothing from you.
