These photos are from my trip to Forge Dam, a park just outside of the Peak District. I have visited this park so many times since i was really young when visiting my grandparents, who live in the remote village of Dore, located just outside of sheffield. For me this park holds nothing but countless good memories, so on a personal level these photos meant a lot to me. Moving to Sheffield from Hampshire made accessing the park easier so I decided to use it in my project about seasons. My visit was during autumn, I captured images of autumnal colours mainly. My focus for my photography was the dead leaves and the beautiful autumn colours. It was hard to express what i saw through photographs, i think they are more of a documentation of exploring the nature with in the park, the feelings i got when i was their aren't quite expressed. But i have managed to capture some of the bright colours that are typical of autumn. I also gathered images of interesting textures and mosses, particularly those growing on trees and old stone walls. When editing the photos i made them very saturated so the green was emphasised and exaggerated. This makes the wet moss look so fresh and colourful, slightly closer to what it was like up close in real life. I believe editing it in this kind of way allows the other senses to be engaged with the photograph, especially texture and maybe even smells associated with rain and damp grass, etc. I hope to use these photos in my development work when it comes to studying environment. A subject i find very delicate, and finding the right way to work with it to get what i want to achieve might be hard. I will update you as soon as possible with my results...
