This is Subject 0002, but it mostly remembers being called "Uriel" by the lady in white with four eyes just like him. He hasn't seen her since his home rained fire, and the green people with big sticks took her away. Since then his home had been really dark, but that's okay. He doesn't need light to see, plus the lady made sure he got all the grapes he could eat.
But now the lights are back on, and his window is cracked. He can hear people again, walking around. It's scary but, he's gotta go outside and find the lady sooner or later, right?

I originally conceptualized this character in a much more gruesome way, but then I thought to challenge myself by taking this gruesome idea and trying to make it as wholesome (and still heartbreaking as possible), ON TOP of working in a week's worth of time.
Needless to say, I think I got it.
I learned about Atomhawk's contest pretty early on, but because of IRL things I was unable to work on this idea until the 31st of July. I was half sure that I was never going to work on it, too, with how many things were happening in my life PLUS the level of quality that's expected but... as soon as the story finished solidifying itself in my mind after weeks of slowly building it together in moments when my mind had to spare, I knew I had to get it on paper.
Or a screen. You get the gist lmao.
I'm a little bummed that I wasn't able to finish the big illustration, but by the time I started working on it and realized I still needed time to work on the expressions sheet, it was a matter of choosing what I think mattered more for me. Which was that you all know Uriel's story.
This was a pretty fun experience and I'm really glad for the creative exercise. Good luck to everyone!
Topi’s Daily Card #962: Forgotten Creation
Now, this zombie is worth considering when you’re doing an UB deck, simply for the power of being able to fill up your graveyard with things to just bring back. This guy combos great when you’re digging for the exact answer, or perhaps when you just need a fresh hand, or even when card drawing will hurt your opponents, such as Psychosis Crawler. This card’s got a pretty niche use though, so I don’t see it often. When you do though, you know it’s going to be fueling some crazy gas and recursion.

I control Damia, Sage of Stone and a Forgotten Creation, and I choose to have Damia resolve first. Do I have to decide if I am discarding my hand before I Damia's trigger resolves, or can I see my refilled hand and decide then if I want to discard it?
You make the decision to discard your hand or not when Forgotten Creation’s trigger resolves and not at any earlier point. You get to see your new cards from Damia before you decide, as long as you stack the triggers correctly.
Fitting right into an efficient curve at 4 mana, Forgotten Creation offered a wonderful strange effect: A free self-Windfall on your upkeep. For many decks in EDH, the graveyard is a resource. By using this, you are effectively adding to your graveyard, adding resources, and drawing a new hand. If you built your deck correctly, there are very few reasons why you wouldn't take advantage of this card. Skulk is mildly helpful on a 3/3 in EDH. Most combative creatures start at least 4 power, and range around 5-6. Its reliable damage, even if its not a lot of it. Don't overlook Forgotten Creation because it doesn't windfall your opponents. Zombie tribal has enough recursion where it doesn't matter, and Sultai lives for self mill. Even Arjun can get on board with this with effects like Psychosis Crawler and Thought Reflection. Go insane to get smarterer.
