My design of the tool for a composite F500 diffuser. Two additional strikes will be added after the outer shell is molded. My original design used 3 inner strikes but it ended up obstructing the rear lift point and we had to remove the diffuser just to jack the back of the car up. I'm much happier overall with the new tool either way. I still haven't convinced the owner to let me use carbon fiber though :(

I recently started working on a Formula 500 team and now I'm putting my printing and fiberglass fabrication experience to practical use. Making louvers for the ad redesign of the radiator vent. The parts are cored with balsa wood to add strength without sacrificing weight. I printed forms with the curve we wanted to build the parts on. The left photo is from last night. After soaking the wood in a solution of water and vinegar for an hour I clamped them over the forms. After drying all night they hold the shape of the curve as you can see in the right photo. Next I'll apply resin and fiberglass for strength and sealant.
