why would anyone invest millions of dollars into getting a job that pays $170k?
this question was posed to me recently. The obvious issue, first of all is where would someone get millions in the first place? or the next biggie, if I could get a job like that and I could get my hands on millions to get a job like that, why wouldn’t I?,,,,Right?
Well, I don’t know the exact figures, but I’ve heard a yearly salary for a US congressman or senator runs between $80K and $170K a year!
And I also don’t know exact numbers, but an average campaign will average in the millions of dollars! As a matter of simple investing, a congressional term is 2 years, and a term of a US senator is 6 years, it wouldn’t, on the surface pay off as a good investment.
there is no specialized training needed, and the only requirements for the job are you must be a certain age and be born in the country. The beauty of this is the millions of dollars that it takes to propel you into this job, is OPM! (other people’s money)
So, unlike people who spend 8 and 10 years working day and night to become a doctor or a lawyer hoping to land the sweet position after graduation to afford them the luxury to pay off all those student loans and eventually a good prosperous life, you would basically share common ideas with locals so you could take those ideas to Washington and represent your friends and neighbors in government.
Why would anyone do it? Or, better yet, why wouldn’t more people do it?
