Union Boys - Best/Worst School Subjects Headcanons
The Union is chock full of troublemaking delinquents who seem to spend all of their time smoking, being bullies, and getting into fistfights. Even at school (especially at school). It's a rare occasion that we see any of these hooligans sitting in a classroom. In fact, many of them don’t have even a single panel of such a thing occuring. The question remains: do they get good grades? (spoiler: no <3) and in which subjects do they succeed/struggle?
(These headcanons have been sitting unfinished in a .txt document on my laptop for literally three years. For some of them, I no longer remember my original reasoning for them. but I still think I was Objectively Correct.)
Yoosun High School
Jimmy Bae
Likes Art and Music classes, but he was made to think that its too embarrassing and “uncool” as a favorite subject. He tends to skip/slack off in both subjects because of his sensitive ego, but enjoys the classwork in secret. Unlike some other Union guys, Jimmy actually goes to classes (sometimes), so his grades are passable across the board. His worst subject is Korean (he struggles with HS level grammar, etc.), followed closely by Math, and his best core subject is History (he finds it interesting).
Jack Kang
Also likes Music class, and is much less concerned with being "cringe" about his interests. Jack also goes to class, unless he's skipping with Jimmy. Most people are surprised to discover that Jack's GPA is on average a little bit less than Jimmy's. Jack’s best subject is Science (likewise, he's decent at Math too), and his worst is Social Studies (he just thinks it’s boring).
Hyeongshin High School
Forrest Lee
He’s surprisingly studious and a hard worker, and his best subjects are definitely Literature and Writing. He’s especially good at writing essays and research papers. He doesn’t have a clear worst subject, but he thinks Math can be difficult at times. His attendance in class has been slipping ever since he took over the school when Myles Joo got kicked out.
Sam Lee “Grape”
His best subjects is Math (particularly Geometry), and he likes some of the more math-focused Sciences such as Chemistry as well. His least favorite subject is Music, because Wolf accused him of sounding like a “fucking dying walrus” and other such vulgar insults in Middle School, and he’s never been brave enough to Karaoke solo ever since.
Ganghak High School
Wolf Keum
One of the biggest mysteries of Ganghak is how Wolf Keum manages to stay in school, despite spending the entire day on the rooftop and never going to class. His secret is just that he has a great memory, and decent test taking skills. Memorization based subjects are his best ones (HS level Math and Science, mainly), but he falls short in comprehension type subjects (such as Korean Literature). Almost always leaves the essay portion of any given test blank, because he'd rather take the missing grade than actually write an essay (it’s too much work).
Hwangmo Joo
The all-rounder of the Union. He’s either average or slightly below average in nearly every subject, except P.E., which he’s very much passing. Hwangmo blames the other Ganghak boys for his terrible attendance record, as they’re always cutting class and making him feel obligated to do so too. When he’s able to put effort into school, his grades in Social Studies and History improve the most.
Hayden Ma
Likes to skip school in favor of social meetups, but he does actually go to class some of the time. His best subject is Art (he's good at self-expression and has a creative imagination), followed by Writing/Literature (he's actually good at writing if he applies himself). Unfortunately, he gets on average low to barely passing grades in most other subjects, again, because he doesn't apply himself enough.
Daehyeon High School
Jake Ji
His favorite subject is P.E. (he loves to play sports) and any Literature based class (he loves to read). He's also good at Social Studies and History. His worst subject is by far Math, followed by Science, but he still passes the classes because Jake actually puts in the effort to graduate from school. He does have a well hidden mischievous streak, so despite being a relatively good student, he'll still skip class on a whim.
Dean Kwon
His best subject is Literature (he’s also quite the reader), but his favorite class is Art, as he has an eye for visual design. Dean freaks out whenever Jake decides to cut class without him, but usually this doesn’t occur that often.
Eunchan Hong
Out of the four in Jake's gang, he gets the worst grades (relatively), mostly because a lot of the teachers at Daehyeon have a negative impression of him, and he has a tendency to clown around in class. His favorite subject is Science (particularly Natural Sciences, as he's the type to watch nature documentaries at home), and he's pretty good at Literature too. His worst subject is Social Studies (he finds it boring) and Math (it’s just hard).
Timothy Park “Big Data”
Best subject is Math (obviously), followed closely by Science. He's good at studying and academics in general, so he gets good grades in almost every subject, except P.E.
It's finally done. This is a companion piece to: Where we started
Thank you Theorist Team for putting in so much hard work. I can't wait to see the new people in the spotlight! I already love Ash and Santi and their chaotic selves haha.
Also I'm thinking of starting a side blog where I reblog other's art, there's just a lot of posts I want to reblog but I don't want to "lose" my art on this page if that makes sense?
This is the result of scrolling through tiktok and coming across a few "orange peel test" videos. Which then made me begin to wonder how some of the characters would react in these situations. Would they pass the test or fail miserably?
Donald-
If you're with Donald it's because he chose to have you in his life. He has no room or time for anything that's not to be taken seriously, and he obviously does his homework on any venture that he invests himself into. Which, in this case, would result in already knowing the kind of person that you are and what you like and don't like. So much so, that you wouldn't have to request such small favors as peeling an orange from him. Most days, he would have a tray set on the tabletop with an already peeled orange, split nicely into slices, ready for you when you get home. It will be the same concept with him filling up items you are low on, such as your favorite granola or shampoo, to the point that you can't even remember the last time you actually bought more yourself. Now he probably won't ever leave you little notes in the way that his mom did to him as a child, because he would hold that memory too close to his soul to share or give out with anyone else, including you, but he would 100% leave encouraging and love filled notes to his own children if you both ever decide to have any.
Jimmy-
Jimmy would give an immediate little sneer if you asked him to peel your orange. Which would be quickly followed up with him just snatching it out of your hand, and complaining a bit about having to do it, while still actually doing it for you. He would also eat half of it himself as he splits the orange apart slice by slice. His reasoning of course would be that he did the "hard" work, so why shouldn't he have some of the reward? The other half of the orange he would stuff into your mouth mindlessly and not too gently, in a very one slice for him- one slice for you, two slices for him- one for you, etc. Once the orange is all done, he will get up to grab another one, and repeat the process all over again. This will continue until you finally tell him that you're full and don't need any more orange slices.
Wolf-
You can't force Wolf to do anything that he doesn't want to do.(Unless you're Donald haha). So really it's a 50/50 chance for it to go your way if you were to ask him. But luckily for you, the one thing about Wolf that is very much in your favor, is that when he's in one of his more giving moods he doesn't hold himself back from treating those close to him. Such as when he takes out his crew for a whole "order whatever you want" type of feast. So the chances of him peeling your orange is pretty high, even with his volatile nature. Just don't ask him in a cutesy voice or by giving him some sad puppy dog eyes. That shit will end up annoying the hell out of him, and you'll end up watching him as he walks away from you, with nothing to keep you company but that sad unpeeled orange you're still holding in your hand.
Jake-
Now you know damn well that Jake would 100% peel that orange for you. Heck, he would even do it with a big smile on his face. He is one of the most openly family and friend oriented person within the Yeongdeungpo union. So he would not only peel an orange for you, but he would also be the kind of guy who would wake up early in the mornings to warm up the car for you. Just to make sure that the windows aren't frosted over and to have the inside of the car nice and toasty. Making it easier for you to just take off in the mornings to wherever you need to go. AND he would do this unprompted and solely because he wants to and because he's able to.
Forrest-
Most people know Forrest as someone who's a complete asshole. Always trying to prove that he deserves the spot he inherited from Myles as Hyeongshin's school head. And truthfully he has the fist to back it up against most adversaries, so most people just try to stay out of his way. But you're one of the lucky few who has gotten to see a different side of him. Where he has been incredibly thoughtful to those close to him, and how he's even taken into consideration his subordinate's discomfort when making his moves within the Unions dealings. So it should come as no surprise to you that Forrest would have no issues with peeling you an orange. Chances are you wouldn't even need to verbally ask the question. All you would have to do is hold out an orange to him with a pleading look on your face. That alone will have him taking the orange from your outstretched hand, followed by him patiently peeling the rind away from it. Then handing it wordlessly back to you once it's peeled, and leaving to throw away all the discarded peels before you even have the chance to say thank you.
Colton-
Now you all know Colton would be a complete and total simp for whoever he's in a relationship with. And he would be SO ready to peel any oranges for you. And not just oranges either. He'll peel you some bananas or some apples. This guy will even go as far as peeling/cracking your pistachios for you! And in my opinion that's even better than peeling an orange.
Ji Hakho: What do you call a fish no eye?
Na Baekjin, not looking up: Myxine Circifrons
Ji Hakho:
Ji Hakho: fsh
*Ji Hakho and Bae Jihoon sitting in jail together*
Bae Jihoon: So who should we call?
Ji Hakho: I’d call Kwon Seokhyeon, but I feel safer in jail
Joo Hwangmo answers the phone
Kidnapper: we have your leader
Joo Hwangmo: you have Keum Seongje?
Kidnapper: yeah.
*In the background, screams of terror can be heard*
Joo Hwangmo: good luck with him.
Bae Jihoon: What does “take out” mean?
Ji Hakho: Food
Lee Sehan: Dating
Keum Seongje: Murder
Na Baekjin: It can be all three if you’re brave enough.
Ji Hakho: Which is correct, seven and five IS thirteen, or seven and five ARE thirteen?
Na Baekjin: Neither.
Na Baekjin: Because it's twelve.
Theoryify: Who's gonna be the next MatPat in terms of how recognizable they are?
Short answer from what I think is Amy, Santi, Tom, and Lee.
The longer answer is as follows:
Amy has been seen on Style Theory since it started and was moving on camera since the ever so popular episode 3: These Shoes can Kill. So if you've watched Style Theory before MatPat left, you should already feel familiar to Amy and know enough that you can recognize her fast.
Santi is probably going to be the next person people will be accustomed too. Not only because he's been on camera like Amy has before, for example, I Tried WEIRD Fair Food So You Don’t Have To, but also because Food Theory is a more camera oriented channel. Sure, there might be a few episodes you can do without needing to record live footage, most of them will be. So the more you see a face moving and talking instead of a two-dimensional image moving on a screen, the more you're gonna recognize its characteristics.
Tom might be the third person people will really get comfortable with. Not to any fault of Tom's, but with receiving the biggest channel of the five, it might take more work than the others. While Tom has been on camera before, that's from GTLive, a channel that has overlap between every channel, I'm sure of it, but not every Game Theory viewer is a GTLive viewer. While sure, seeing static images move around is expected from Game Theory, it feels less human in my opinion. Like there's a lack of connection there that could make it harder to get used to.
Finally, there's Lee. While all four of these are debatable, I feel Lee is gonna be the last one people think of because a lot of people forget about Film Theory to the point that MatPat has joked about it on GTLive. So while he might not need to do a lot for fans of Film Theory, the rest of the theorist community might need crossovers to help remember that A, the channel exists, and B, who Lee is.
If you've made it this far, I want to remind you, this is just my opinion, and all my evidence is based off of things I've been thinking about for a few days. So please, if you watch the theory channels, show positivity to the new hosts, and if none of that made sense, at least I can say it was just a theory,
A TEAM THEORY!
(look it's the best I could think of okay)
Thanks for reading.
*feel free to disagree btw 100% okay I wanna know your thoughts too
