“I like this. A quiet breakfast with you.” for the soft sentence starters 🤗
No light streamed through the window in that cold, cramped bedroom, making it near impossible to tell the hour. Outside were telltale signs, however. Soft footsteps of maids up and down the hall signaled it was at least past sunrise. Gentle cold light filtered in from beneath the crack of the door from the sconces they had set in the gray stone corridors. Gaius cast a glance at them then at the curled, still sleeping Kaida at his side. Her back was pressed into him, the steady rhythm of her breath a melody that threatened to pull him back to sleep. But since everything had gone to hell, there had nary been a day Gaius Baelsar had gotten to sleep in. And today was likely going to be no different. Something always came up.
Gaius reached for Kaida, knowing it best to wake her. His hand caressed over her spine, tenderly making its way to her neck. She mumbled something and his palm continued to caress her exposed skin. Soft and delicate but enough to pull her from slumber. The Raen rolled over, cracking an eye at him grumpily.
“Whazzit,” she said, voice thick with sleepiness and words slurred.
“Good morning,” he said and Kaida rolled back over.
“No,” was all she replied with and he shook his head at her, stifling a smirk.
She pulled the covers over her shoulder a bit more snugly. He sighed and began to rub her back some more. Persistence was key. She grumbled again—no coherent words, just a general discontent. But as his fingers began to dig gently into her tired back muscles, the grumbling turned to a satisfied moan. Kaida nuzzled into her pillow and he detected a small smile on her lips. Good. It was working. And now for the ace up his sleeve.
“Breakfast?” he tempted her and the Raen’s eye opened again. Gaius had learned long ago when in doubt to offer food.
“Mmm… fine,” the Raen relented and the Black Wolf had to hide his amused grin.
So predictable. So bribable.
Getting out of bed was the worst part in the mornings. The cold air seeped through everything but the thick blankets on the bed. When Gaius slid out, he felt the wintery cold hit his skin. It sobered him up, banishing the loitering remnants of slumber. He set about cleaning himself up, glancing over at where Kaida was struggling to crawl out of bed. When she did, she took a blanket with her, bundled up with the tail end dragging the floor.
“Ridiculous,” he commented to her as she wore her blanket-cape to the washroom.
“It is too damn cold,” she grumbled back and he shook his head at her.
The door closed behind her and she added, “When this madness is over, we’re going to the Ruby Sea.”
“To meet your parents?” Gaius remarked. “I can only imagine how well that will go.”
“Kami above-- no, we are not doing that,” she huffed from the other side of the door. “I just want a change of scenery. Something less cold. I can barely tolerate this… winter business.”
“This is nothing,” Gaius said dismissively.
“This is horrible,” Kaida retorted. “I can’t feel my tail.”
“Neither can I,” Gaius said gruffly.
A long, drawn-out sigh preluded her cracking the door open at him. A single, angry emerald eye shot a glare at him. And then she closed the door again with another one of her disdainful huffs. A lingering moment of silence existed between the two. And then she finally spoke, words interrupted slightly with a chuckle.
“You are not funny.”
“I can hear you laughing.”
“I hate you.”
He could hear the smile in her voice. Another victory for the morning.
“Lies and more lies,” he shook his head, a small smile crossing his lips.
When they had finished washing themselves and getting ready for the day, they slipped out of the bedroom and into the hallway. They were midway down the hall when Gaius noticed that Kaida had pulled on one of his jackets over her long-sleeved shirt. It was so lengthy on her that it nearly skirted the ground. He sighed. Another jacket she would likely not want to give back.
The dining area was empty when they arrived but the hearth had already been stoked. The chef had prepared a simple breakfast meal—eggs, strips of bacon, and some biscuits. Kaida and Gaius grabbed their portions and settled down next to the fire. The heat of it was welcome in the wintery cold. He reached out with a hand to warm his palm then glanced at her, catching a stare from her. His eyes narrowed slightly—accusingly-- and she blushed and looked away. Gaius shook his head, smirking to himself. She had given up any ounce of subtly, it seemed. Too often he found her gaze wandering over to him with that twinkle her eyes. Like a love-struck teenager. Not that he felt any different. The way he felt addicted to being near her was almost embarrassing.
“I like this. A quiet breakfast with you,” Kaida commented as she ungracefully shoved a large slab of bacon into her mouth.
“The food shan’t run from you, Kaida,” he remarked.
“I am hungry,” the Raen protested and shoved another bit of bacon into her mouth.
Gaius marveled at her for a moment—beautiful, unladylike, and eating with the grace of drunken geese. She sucked the grease off of her fingers and he shook his head at her. What an insufferable noise that was but her antics put a soft smile on his face. So often they had to run about to their tasks, as if they were crewmates scurried about a sinking ship. Every day felt like bailing out more water. It made little time for moments like these—casual and light-hearted. But he cherished them all the same.
“We… ought to do this more,” he said after a moment of thought.
“Yes,” Kaida agreed, the glow of the hearth illuminating her face.
He caught her staring again and when he swiveled his head in her direction, he noted the way her eyes were fixated upon his mouth. A quick glance was tossed about the room. Still empty, except for them. Good—showing affection in public was something he was still uneasy about. He leaned in, lips gracing hers for a brief moment. Soft and tender, a kiss that warmed his chest in a way that a hearth’s fire never could. And then she smeared a greasy finger on his cheek and erupted into laughter.
Yotsuyu... I have a LOT of feelings about this character, and it’s hard to properly sum it up in a short response post, so let me just say that it’s complicated. I will say that she’s by far the most beautiful woman in this game, like painfully so.
Who do I ship her with? Literally no one. When she’s full stompy Yotsuyu, she’s far too cruel and sadistic for me to see her in a relationship, especially not any kind of healthy one at least. When she’s Tsuyu, she’s so childlike that it just feels wrong for me to see her with anyone romantically.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, my favorite platonic OTP for her is with Gotsetsu. He truly brings out the best in her, and I do wish there could be an AU where Tsuyu lives with Gotsetsu as a family and they are happy together.
Unpopular opinions? Boy do I (or I assume these might be anyway)! To try and keep this short, I think I can sum it up by saying that I don’t think Yotsuyu was handled well. I remember that my initial reaction to 4.3 and Yotsuyu’s ending was “Well, that was... something.” I know that I was supposed to feel angsty, sad, or some sort of complex feelings about Tsuyu and then seeing her going right back to being sadistic after regaining her memories, but I just felt like it was very rushed, and I felt like I wasn’t fully able to process it all. My feelings now are not one extreme or the other. I don’t hate her, but I also don’t really like her either. I don’t know... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What would I have hoped had happened instead? I know I wish it would be better, but how to accomplish that, I really don’t have any ideas that are solid enough.
🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?
Gisele is sort of in love with the world, and for once that’s not a self deprecating joke about her near infinite number of lovers lol. But she really does have a joie de vivre about her that lets her see beauty everywhere she goes, in the smallest of things. She will always make time to stop for buskers, no matter what she’s doing, and toss them a gil--most often the dancing girls in Ul’dah.
🌾 Describe your OC through the eyes of someone absolutely head-over-heels in love with them
I suppose one might wax poetic regarding how utterly, breathtakingly stunning she is--and she is, mind--but that would be rather dreadfully predictable, wouldn’t it? Ultimately, my Lady Fortemps is quite simply the most remarkable woman I have ever known. She’s possessed of a most impeccable sense of style, and devastating wit to match; I’ve never quite met anyone before or since who does everything with such panache. She could charm the very birds from the trees, and convince them they could reach the very stars, so high might they soar. Who better to carry on a legacy, truthfully?
🌸 What are some of their favourite things and why? List as many as you can think of!
Flowers, especially roses. Good food and wine. A million little things about her spouses and lovers and friends but chief among them:
- Haurchefant’s cocoa
- Aymeric’s smile
- Estinien’s exasperated grunting, followed by the sly grin he doesn’t think anyone can see
“Just hearing the sound of your voice is enough to make me smile.” for the soft sentence starters! 😄
Thanks for the prompt!!
Lizzy sits on the roof of her home, the moonlight illuminating the rooftop, and the yard below. Tears stream down her face as she recalls the horrible day the boat she was on was attacked. The day she lost her birth parents.
[Well….I didn’t lose them...they lost me…]
She curls her knees up to her face. She always likes to sit up on the roof, it makes her feel like she can clear her head. Maybe it reminds her of when she would climb trees, when her adoptive parents were still alive.
The thought sends pangs of sorrow shooting through Lizzy again.
[I’ve lost four parents…most people only have to lose two.]
She tries to muffle her weeping with her legs.
Lizzy had awoken from sleep due to the horrible recurring nightmare. Flashes of crashing waves above. The sounds of gunfire. Drowning.
Her hair is down, she didn’t bother putting it back up when she got out of bed, leaving her sleeping partner undisturbed. She pulls her hair back, and touches the scar on her eyebrow. A painful memory of that day.
Though, can she really call it a memory? She knows she got it that day, but doesn’t even recall how. Perhaps she got knocked off the side by a panicked adult?
She shakes the thoughts loose, and looks up at the moon.
A familiar voice fills the air below her, “Lizzy? Elizabeth?”
Out of fear of worrying her, she mumbles out, “’m up here...”
Sadu turns around in the yard, looking up at the roof to see Lizzy, “Oh, why are you up there?”
Lizzy shakes her head to reset her hair to cover her eye again. Sadu rubs her eyes as she tries to focus on Lizzy. They wander around the yard in an attempt to piece together how Lizzy got up there at all. She sees a potential route, and begins her ascent.
“Had a nightmare, couldn’t sleep.” Lizzy answers, “Watch your step there.” she points.
Sadu acknowledges a loose plank, and avoids it, “So you climb onto the roof? That sounds pretty dangerous for just a nightmare.”
Lizzy shrugs, “I like it up here, it’s calm.”
Sadu arrives on the roof and sits next to Lizzy. Wrapping her arm around her, and grabs a hand with her free hand. “Do you want to talk about the nightmare?”
Lizzy shakes her head, “No, not really. Well, that is to say, there’s not much to talk about. The nightmare is mostly just flashes. Crashing waves, the feeling of drowning, explosions, that kind of thing. Nothing concrete.”
Sadu’s face grows concerned, “Is there any way I can help you feel better?”
Lizzy thinks for a moment.
After a couple minutes she answers, “Just hearing the sound of your voice is enough to make me smile.” she continues, “Hearing you talk, knowing you’re here. That’s enough.”
Lizzy finishes the thought, and smiles at Sadu. A weak smile. Sadu can still see where the tears dried on Lizzy’s face.
Sadu places her hand on Lizzy’s cheek, Lizzy closes her eyes, and rubs her face into Sadu’s hand, “Mmm.”
Sadu presses her forehead onto Lizzy’s, “I love you, Elizabeth.” she says.
Lizzy’s eyes open for a moment, Sadu isn’t known for that kind of romantic gesture, she closes her eyes and kisses Sadu.
After they separate, Lizzy announces, “I love you, Sadu, more than anything.”
The two just sit in silence under the moon, resting their head on each other until they get tired again.
OKAY SO LIKE. YOU CAN'T DO ME LIKE THAT? I’m gonna do two females and two males because this is simply impossible otherwise lmao.
For the boys, I’m going to have to go with Leon Kennedy from RE (2+4 get RE6 Leon OUTTA’ MY FACE) and... Uh, god.. my bad taste is showing Dio from JJBA? /SHAME
As for the ladies.. that’s going to have to be Miss Claire Redfield also from RE and (okay I’m picking three, sort of, sue me) it’s a REALLY tight draw between Kaine from Nier or Zero from Drakengard Three. o/
🌼 Fave flower
Sunflowers!! I’ve received these every year for my birthday and any type of life milestone from my family. They were the centerpiece flower of my wedding even!! ;w; I adore the color yellow and I just love how bright and cheerful they are.
what was your first ship, and what fandom is it from?
Ohhhhh first ship??? Now I have to dig really far in my brain...
The first ship I really loved was when my tiny teenage self discovered that Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune (Haruka and Michiru) were a couple and not cousins like the dumbass dub was trying to lead us to believe. I think they are the best couple in Sailor Moon and I get goosebumps still from some certain scenes with them. Also, it was the first time I really saw LGBTQ+ representation on tv, despite the dub trying to cover it up anyway... which is a rant that I will save for another time.
“Oh, Lerine is a very sweet person! She is a comrade whom I can always count on to have my back in a fight. I see how much love surrounds her, Haurchefant, and Emet-Selch. Though I do not fully understand how their unique situation occurred, much less how the three of them make it work, I see how happy they all truly are. Is that not what we all strive for, after all?”
((Thank you so much @fortempsward for the ask!! I hope Yume’s answer for your girl and your OT3 is alright!))
