Hey Y’all Hey 👋🏽 I’ve been working on what to post ALL DAY! And in these last few minutes of Juneteenth here is what is true for me. 👉🏾 I’m from a family/community that has celebrated Juneteenth for as long as I can remember. 👉🏾 I want and encourage Black Folx to find, create & engage JOY, especially as we continue the work in this movement to call in justice, equity and the dismantling of current systems. 👉🏾 Today, I sat with a question posed this morning about what we are really celebrating. 👉🏾This post is inspired by @taranajaneen and a reflection on what I am celebrating today. Thank you Tarana J. Burke for this expression. ✊🏾🖤 “Today, as I think of my foremothers I am also thinking of so many sisters who have also never quite lived FREE lives. It’s the reason why I will always work towards our liberation. Liberation from white supremacy & patriarchy is an ongoing fight. But, in the spirit of my ancestors and my child and the children and sisters who I claim in love and all of the Black women who labor to live and love freely - I will also do the work of liberating myself from the lie that this body, this skin, this life is less worthy because it is Black.” (read the full reflection on her page) • • • #daughtersof #juneteenth #ForToyin #ForBreonna #ForTheMamas #ForTheMamasMamas #ForLiberation #explore https://www.instagram.com/p/CBpHZD_lKI9/?igshid=ca0t7mg00zh7
