This is Jaq, my brother's newest foster dog. He is blind and deaf and only has 1 tooth. He is just skin and bones, having been terribly neglected before the rescue found him. But he is a total sweetheart. He went after his dinner with gusto so hopefully my brother and sister-in-law can put some meat on his bones.

The shelter said she was 20lbs... Momma is good at catfishing because she rang in at 50lbs when she was vetted yesterday! Lol
Regardless, this is Large Marge! Marge, officially. She's the sweetest pea in the world. She's petrified, but I think she'll make a big turnaround with the other babies in the house to help her. 💜

What is it like to take care of kittens?
Kittens are funny, fun, time-consuming, and meSSY! To be fair, I mostly care for barn rescues, so they almost always come with eye infections, upper respiratory infections, and maaajor digestive issues, but even healthy kittens eat a lot, poop a lot, and don’t always make it to the litter box! They also explore their world by chewing on things, wrestling with things, and falling off things. Their goal is to learn everything and that means exploring and making a mess of everything too!
Kittens need to be taught to be gentle with their teeth and claws, and that takes a lot of care and patience. They don’t have much respect for personal boundaries at first and they’re VERY NEEDY! They also need to be fed, cleaned, and entertained more often than adult cats.
They’re a lot of fun and MrFerret and I both love fostering kittens, but once they hit about 3-4 months I’m always exhausted by how much energy they have, hahaha. They’re much easier than puppies, though, and much more independent, much sooner!
Life update: living off rice & beans for awhile while I save up for Ella's dental visit; Figaro lives in the bathroom now; Amara (formerly known as Rylee, the foster pup) is doing well with her heartworm treatment; John is working a couple states away for possibly the next year 💔 Basically, life is still all about the animals and that's OK with me ❤️
Took the pups to the Sanford Food Truck Fiesta today.
