The direct photo reference and some of the background work for a physical project I'm starting, which will be a partial panorama (with some bas-relief) set inside a thrifted marble lightshade, depicting a Tyrannosaurus stalking through a burnt forest and noticing us. More info in alt-text.

Also, some quick fly-by footage of the tilted Blender hemisphere, left-to-right and bottom-to-top, to give an idea of how the final physical piece should appear in the round.

This project has been in the planning stage for a bit now, so it took a little digging to find the work I did for what its face should eventually look like. In the final panorama, this Tyrannosaurus and the foreground will be sculpted in higher relief, and more distant features will be flatter.

Charles Byrd, kinetic sculptures.

Three-Wheeled Sculpture, Robot Photographer, and Valvo the Robot are the smaller ones, but I couldn't find a name for the larger piece. It is apparent from other photos that some pieces are huge, room-sized, and they all have moving, motorized parts.

About 14” tall, constructed using repurposed material found mostly on the shoreline.

My sweet girl. Based on plumed worms and the reinforced tubes that they use to protect themselves.

And based on some other feelings too, as per usual. The events of my life have led me to a mindset where I look at animals that cover themselves (the plumed worm, caddisfly larva, the bone collector caterpillar) and I think, “that’s sick. I wish I could do that too.”

The bracelet in the third set of pictures was made after I took the picture of my whole collection, which is why it isn't there. The sunflower bracelet shown with it is the only thing I didn't make myself.
