Founders Conundrum IPA - Being a long time, long distance fan I couldn’t let the first night in Grand Rapids go by without a visit to Founders. Probably should have went with a CBS or vintage KBS, but tried the taproom only Conundrum IPA instead. It was just alright.
Really impressive facility. Was super packed to the point that tables were hard to come by even on a random weeknight, but service at the multiple bars was still very quick and there was tons of outdoor seating it just wasn’t seasonable enough to use. Food looked good, but heavy. Company store had lots of interesting goodies, but we were traveling out of just 2 backpacks for the trip.
Its a nice evening out, and I’m enjoying the last bits of 80 degree weather we’re having here in central Illinois before it drops into the 40s this week. I bought this beer a few weeks …
Finally! We have time to open a bottle. CBS has been near the top of my beer bucket list for years. I thought KBS was amazing, I thought KBS was smooth and flavorful and just damn near perfect. KBS is crap compared to this. This... this is amazing. The hint of maple changes so much. I thought the 750 ml bottle would be tough to get through, but I think I'm just gonna want more. Plain bourbon barrel aging will never again be good enough. 😍
My favorite place to sit and think.
Avery Brewing and KBS! 5oz pours of Founders KBS 2017, Avery's Uncle Jacobs Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels 14.5% ABV and Avery's Raspberry Sour!
