More MONKEYS
The Four Monkeys of Havoc!!!
I don't really have refrences for them but headcanons are below :) The next part of the Macaque comic is coming soon I just need to finish school first
Them being known as ‘The King’, ‘The Pathfinder’, ‘The Nomad’, and ‘The Warrior’ were the results of them lacking names for a long time, so to refer to them, mortals came up with those titles. Over time, they just stuck. They have never called each other by those titles
In fact, if you asked Chikao or Tongbi, they would never call Macaque a warrior, he was just shaped into one over time. The only one of them to ever call Macaque ‘warrior’ was Sun Wukong, but it was more joking, affectionate. The same goes to Macaque calling Wukong ‘king’
Each monkey has names they either picked out or were given by people close to them.
Our widely known and hard-headed Stone Monkey, Tianchan Shihou, also known as Sun Wukong (孫悟空) was named by his first master
The wise and knowledgeable resident Mandrill, Chikao Mahou, named themself Guo Minzhe (郭民喆) after centuries of going nameless
The small and cheeky troublemaking Gibbon, Tongbi Yuanhou, was named Yan Shihua (严世华) by a martial arts sect that took her in
And our most beloved and cunning Macaque, Liu'er Mihou, who has recently chosen to once again go by Mou Zhouyue, (牟卓月) a name he picked out for himself… in a byegone life
Both Sun Wukong and Ao Bing suffer from scopophobia, but it affects them differently
Wukong's is more akin to stage fright. It doesn't really affect him on the daily but he freezes up if he knows he's being watched by a large group of people and doesn't really like being in crowds but can handle it more often than not. This fear stemmed from his fight with Macaque, where they battled through all three realms, watched by celestials and demons alike. The thing that cemented this fear was when Sun Wukong dealt the killing blow, it being witnessed by the pilgrims, Guanyin and the Buddha, who all knew to some degree how dear and close Macaque was to Wukong
Ao Bing on the other hand can't stand being in crowds or being stared at by people unfamiliar. His fear stems from two places. First was his death, where, after his spine was ripped out, a crowd of villagers started to gather and watch as Nezha held Ao Bing as he was dying. The second incident was when he was on trial for being revived. At his sentencing, he was bound in chains and made to stand in the middle of the court while his fate was decided, under scrutiny of all sorts of deities. It did not help that his oldest brother, Ao Jia, was in the court, there to banish Ao Bing from the East Sea following orders from their father
I was actually thinking of making Macaque's name Ziyue (紫月) '紫' meaning purple and '月' meaning moon, but it's way too on the nose for me and also sounds way too similar to my own name, using the same character I also used to use to write it with, sooo no thanks haha
All four monkeys come from different types of rocks, so technically they’re all stone monkeys, but Wukong is the only one who is actively called that. The other three go by the species they each are
Wukong was formed when a piece of mylonite, a metamorphic rock, somehow found its way to the surface of Flower Fruit Mountain, probably as a result of earthquakes
Chikao came from a pumice stone, an igneous rock, that emerged from under the ocean
Tongbi was born from a sandstone, a sedimentary rock, that formed after a series of volcanic explosions
And Macaque fell from the sky in a meteorite, a primitive rock and the secret fourth type. What was the meteor made out of? Where did it come from? Who knows? (Does he count as an alien then??)
They also were each born in the above order. Yes, Macaque is the youngest
In terms of species, Sun Wukong is a macaque. His fur used to be a lighter yellowy orange before he got all burnt up by the cauldron
Sun Wukong glamours away everything he deems imperfect about himself to try and come off as untouchable and invincible
Chikao and Tongbi are both nonbinary, but Tongbi chooses to use she/her pronouns
While Wukong and Macaque are definitely the most scarred up out of the four, the scars that Chikao and Tongbi cover are more… close to home in a sense?
There was a long period of time where Chikao removed their voice box in order to stay silent for their meditative journey, learning to communicate in other ways. It’s back now don’t worry
And Tongbi chooses to cover the brand of the martial arts sect, where she still has people she considers family and doesn’t want them to be hurt if she ever gets into trouble
Macaque and Wukong are mated. However this is a closely guarded secret, no one really knows outside of the four of them, though I think other demons might have a clue
Tongbi likes to get into trouble, but mostly harmless things like pranking little kids and throwing mean vendors for a loop by stealing and hiding their products. She doesn’t dare do more since… well she’s not looking to be put under a mountain
Only Wukong and Macaque have the long tails most people picture when hearing the word monkey. Chikao does have a tail but it’s super short. Tongbi doesn't have a tail at all. Technically, she is an ape, not a monkey
If you’re wondering why Sun Wukong’s ‘real name’ so to say is Tianchan Shihou instead of Lingming Shihou, it’s what he prefers (Trans SWK real to me)
Chikao and Tongbi have different sets of skills compared to Wukong and Macaque. Chikao isn’t a very good fighter but is well versed in trickery and spiritual power. Tongbi is incredibly strong and quick on her feet but lacks more magical abilities
Chikao and Tongbi are both travellers. A long time ago, Tongbi had actually invited Macaque to go travelling with her but he refused the offer
Chikao and Tongbi have not set foot on Flower Fruit Mountain in a long time. The last time they were there they paid respects to Macaque and his grave
Neither of them hold any grudges toward Sun Wukong for Macaque’s death or Macaque for trying to disrupt Sun Wukong’s journey to redemption. It’s not their place
I don’t think I’ve ever said anything about it, but the reason I draw Macaque with the white in his hair is because of LBD’s lingering corruption, popular consensus in the fandom I think. None of his glamours work on that patch of fur. He keeps a (less severe) scar over his eye because he thinks it’s cool
Also as a result of LBD’s corruption, the right side of Macaque’s body is noticeably weaker, though he hides it well
The reason Chikao glamours themself to have less yellow in their fur is so they won’t stand out too much
Macaque has a fear of dogs. Specifically hounds
Wukong suffers migraines from time to time as a result of the circlet and LBD’s mind control
That's all I have on them for now. Maybe I'll do Rumble and Savage next cause I just fleshed out their lore

Apparently dying changes people
I remember once finding the reference of this guy in Pinterest (It was in a bad quality then-)
yet I finally found the one who made it, so decided to post it as a gift to the creator (@cupofadonis) Since I ate that design up real good/pos
(He's the sassiest man in town~ 😈)/lh
Okay- so I thought of this-
Been too hype about monkeys so I had the thought of making the four celestial primates looking like the actual monkeys ✨
Hope you all like it cause to be honest I was struggling with..THE BABOON 👹👹 (I love them)
Tongbi/bei Yuanhou!!! Should I make a Chikao Mahou (Red-butted Horse Monkey/Baboon) design too?
The way JTTW just casually drops that there's a whole category of powerful celestial monkeys, kills the only one we know of aside from Wukong and then never bother to show or mention the other two again makes me genuinely insane, WHY DOES NOBODY DO ANYTHING WITH THIS CONCEPT???? If three fans draws a celestial primate OC that's a new record.
