i HATE being a pit kid from a very small marching band where i can only learn and play four mallets on my own time while still REALLY WANTING TO BE IN DCI
i try to look for ONE tutorial just about IMPROVING ON FOUR MALLETS WHEN YOU ALREADY KNOW THE BASICS and all i see is:
"how to play four mallets FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS !!!" "INTRO to four mallets for TOTAL BEGINNERS" "INTRO to four mallets" "how to hold four mallets" IM NOT A COMPLETE BEGINNER !!!!! im having trouble IMPROVING, i know the basics but i have to literally teach myself so ive reached a point where ive just kind of gotten. stuck.
i know HOW to play an independent stroke but i cant get it to stop feeling so tight and tense and it doesnt sound very good. i cant get my mallet height very high either but it doesnt look like mallet heights are quite the same as two mallets most of the time so whatever
its mostly just the issue of. i cant get the outside mallets to stop moving around a ton whenever i play, esp my left hand, and my independent strokes are very tight and tense [I DO KNOW HOW TO DO IT !!!!! IF I SEE ONE MORE PERSON TELL ME HOW TO TURN MY WRIST TO PLAY I WILL CRASH OUT. i knoowww :/ the issue isnt the basic concept its just. getting good at it]
its like. i know HOW to do it i just... cant do it? i guess? like i could put it into words how to play four mallets but i cant execute it
