Interesting. Potemkin becomes ポチョムキン (Pochomukin) when written in katakana. Also bonus Kind of curious if Potemkin is named after the battleship, the village, or the nobleman. Probably the battleship.
Потёмкин in Russian is apparently pronounced like [pɐˈtʲɵmkʲɪn] according to Wiktionary. So it's interesting to see how Japanese interpreted the name vs. how English interpreted it.
