Millie Bobby Brown, a 17-year-old British actress who became an inspirational role model to children and teenagers by breaking records of getting nominated and being an ambassador of UNICEF. Who is she and why should we look up to her?
British actress. Model. Producer. She was born in February 2004 in Marbella, Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. She is the third of four children of parents, Kelly and Robert Brown.
Like all celebrities, Millie is also being bullied online. A few years ago, Millie deleted her Twitter account after she became the subject of an endless string of fake stories and memes accusing her of being homophobic to her fans. However, this didn’t stop Millie from being a good role model to others.
Millie became the world’s youngest UNICEF ambassador at 14! According to her, “it was a dream come true”. She used her platform to help raise awareness of children’s rights and issues affecting youth such as lack of education, bullying, mental illnesses, and poverty. Not only that but she also gave a speech about cyberbullying and even used herself as an example.
Did you know that she was born with partial hearing in one ear? Sadly, she gradually lost all that hearing in that ear over several years -- meaning that she is deaf in one ear. Millie rose to prominence for her roles as Eleven in the Netflix sci-fi series “Stranger Things”. She was also one of the youngest Emmy nominees in history for Best Drama Supporting Actress for playing Eleven. Isn’t she awesome?
Wait… Did I mention that Mille also launched a Vegan makeup and skincare line for Gen Z. The brand titled “Florence” was named after her great grandmother. Everything she’s learned along the way has shown her that beauty is all about loving and expressing ourselves according to their official page.
Nowadays, children and teenagers only look at stars on a yacht or at the beach wearing bikinis. But we don’t need them. We don’t need people to look at, what we need are people to look up to! Millie also collaborated with huge companies like Converse. EA Games announced that Millie was collaborating with The Sims 4 programmers to feature in the Sims 4 Positivity Challenge in November 2018. In 2019, she ascended to the next level when she starred in her first feature film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. She is set to reprise her role in the film’s sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong ---Those are other achievements she accomplished. We need more famous people like her. Like the title, she may be youthful but she is a shining example!
