Anger is not for you
if you are a good girl.
You wanted to be your own kind of girl, not brave
or foolish enough to be
bad. The kind of bad
boys are intrigued by and
girls envy and both
are kind of scared of.
You were too soft to be scary.
But you loved those bad girls, honey--
with the easy sleepover intimacy of best friends that later became
confusing with the onset of puberty
And the type of strange jealousy
indicating the slight of your difference.
But all of this gets stuffed away over two years of awkward silence and consequently, all of what you didn't say, enrages you
in a different way
