Doing research on hallucinogens for potential candidates for Fear Toxin when I was reminded that nutmeg has hallucinogenic effects in high doses.

So, I'm just imagining Jonathan Crane looking for new ways to synthesise a stronger and more refined toxin, discovering this fact about nutmeg, then thinking to himself, "Well, I can't just not make a Fear Toxin out of nutmeg for a Christmas crime spree."

Okay I am not super well versed on the Scarecrow lore, but I am thinking about how likely the reason the crows would attack Jonathan when he was locked in the chapel by his great-grandmother was probably because they were nesting.

I don't have as much experience with crows, but I have a long history with their cousins, the Australian Magpie. They have a reputation for being rather aggressive to humans that get within a certain proximity of their nests, to the point that spring is colaquially known as swooping season due to regular magpie attacks. So, it's likely that the crows were attacking (and in fact living there in the first place) in order to protect their vulnerable, flightless chicks.

So, the idea that his great-grandmother utilised these animals' protective paternal instinct in order to traumatise him is uh... certainly something that is telling of her character.

Setting up the world's middest date for my beloved where we watch the direct to DVD Scooby Doo movie that has Jonathan "THE SCARECROW" Crane in it because the movie gave me four months of brainworms and they want to support my passions.

A list of very normal things about our crew in a D&D pirate campaign:

- We have a hierarchy of captains. Not because multiple people wanted to be captain, for the exact opposite reason. The first captain became captain because no one else wanted to be. The second and third captains became captain because the captain above them in the hierarchy was not there/unconscious, and an NPC referred to them as the captain of the crew. Therefore, because no one wants to be saddled with the role of captain, the rest of the party decides to roll with it.

- One of the party members' mental state is, for some reason, directly proportionate to the state of the ship.

- Another one of the party members is part giant, and because of his ancestory (and also because of a deal he made), he can grow to 20ft tall. This is regularly abused by polymorphing him into a bird and then releasing the spell over enemies so he can fall onto them and crush them.

- The party is indirectly responsible for summoning death in a populated city.

- The druid (me) has accidentally crushed a large amount of people under a party member because she panicked and turned that party member into a whale in the middle of a city.

- Said druid is also the ship's doctor, mostly because no one else can do any healing spells or medical knowledge. This is best exemplified by when said druid was having a prophetic seizure, their best idea was to "turn her off then on again". This manifested by trying to punch her, which missed terribly.

- Our lizardfolk fighter is quite dumb, but his brain grew in size due to time travel. Everyone in the party noticed. Though when the captain mentioned it, the party decided that they, collectively, would pretend that he was always like that.

I have figured out my terrible and useless superpower is that I am able to find half remembered tumblr posts when they get explained to me. My lovely partner uses this power regularly so they can have blorbo thoughts.

Undead Coràzon Theory

(Or more apptly Something is Wrong with Coràzon)

Here I have complied my variety of reasons as to why I think Coràzon could be an undead of some variety and is just straight up hiding it from the rest of the party...

1.) Suzette: During Dob's reunion with Suzette, she says some worrying things about Coràzon:

"Just, be wary of the pirate. Just between you and me I think he's taken a bit more than a few knocks and bruises, if you catch my meaning." and finishing up the conversation with "I think he's... yeah..."

Implying that Suzette thinks Coràzon is... something? And Suzette is a biologist of some description, so if there is something wrong with Coràzon she would pick up on it...

2.) Coràzon Cursed Status: Coràzon is very vague with why the curse came about and his role in it. In Spot of Bother, he says that he isn't cursed (not explaining how he avoided this fate when the rest of his crew couldn't). Though he will occasionally make a light refrence or two to the possibility. Such as jokingly saying "Yeah we're all cursed mate, get on with it," in Mind Your Manors.

So Coràzon is obviously hiding something from the rest of the Oxventurers about his relationship to the curse. What that is, we can't be exactly sure.

Misc. Theory Fodder: (aka circumstantial evidence that could relate to Undead Coràzon)

- Coràzon seems to know more about Egbert's Paladin abilities then he does, specifically in Elf Hazard in which he is basically begging Egbert to use Divine Smite on Banshee (an undead, which is weak to radiant damage)

- Additionally, Egbert is always the one Coràzon is pushing into dangerous situations (or talking about eating his flesh). Almost like he sees Egbert as a bit of a threat (considering he's a paladin, one of the parties main suppliers of radiant damage along with the possibility of him having the spell detect evil and good, a spell that can detect undead within 30ft, it would make sense Coràzon would think that way if he way hiding the fact he is not quite alive).

- Coràzon getting into the Necropolis on Sea Manor through the weird cat-flap in a way that is described to be upsetting, ("To be honest, all of you except for Prudence feel a bit sick. You didn't really think that this dashing young pirate could do anything quite so horrifying. You didn't think any human do anything quite so horrifying and still live..." - Johnny, Mind Your Manors)

- We are yet to see (to my knowledge) Coràzon take any life threatening damage (unlike the rest of the group who have been burned, disembowelled, poisoned, have their arm almost taken off, etc.)

- Coràzon taking 3 necrotic damage for bee puns, which he is not allowed to uncanny dodge (Bone 2 Pick)

-Also Coràzon seems to be constantly surrounded by undead (his old crew and his ghost pirate grandfather plus the skeleton army) and is generally a bit too chill about it

Anyway I think it would be a fun reveal!

I mean this in the most positive way possible, but Hatfilm's new Vault Hunter's series is like being grabbed by the shoulders and shaken violently.
