The Fox Engine still looks amazing
An unused version of the bathroom in Hideo Kojima’s SILENT HILLS P.T. in which Lisa’s decapitated corpse is found in the bathtub.

Thats right! The la-li-loo-lay-lo (wistches sides mid sentence)
(kojima please cast them im begging you)
Kind of messed up that Konami worked their ass off to make Fox Engine good enough for MGSV, then literally never made anything else under it than a zombie spin-off everyone ignored and more soccer games.
I think Fox Engine was rather good.
I see this happening quite a lot with proprietary closed-source engines. It just feels like a ton of human effort... well, it didn't exactly go into a black hole, because we got MGSV. But it's so far from optimal exploitation of the labor put into the engine!
Metal Gear Solid V - Rendering Buffers Overview
Computer Graphics technical examination from Adrian Courrèges breaks down how the video games looks how it does:
The final chapter Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released in 2015 and brings the series to a whole new level of graphics quality thanks to the Fox Engine developed by Kojima Productions. The analysis below is based on the PC version of the game with all the quality knobs set to maximum. Some of the information I present here has already been made public in the GDC 2013 session “Photorealism Through the Eyes of a FOX”.

Digital Foundry checks technical performance of Metal Gear Survive
Eurogamer: "For a game that has everything to prove in the wake of Kojima's departure, questions remain over Metal Gear Survive in the wake of this beta. We've some signs that the title may be in the midst of the optimisation push it clearly needs, but only a look at final code will confirm whether Konami can match the standards set by Metal Gear Solid 5 - a game that's still a superb piece of work, regardless of the system you play it on."
just sunk way too much in like 20 steam keys/games
i wish MGS master collection V2 was out now. Idk if they are still working on it, playing MGS 4 on PC will certainly be interesting, hopefully the loading screens wont be anything like they were
i'd imagine with SSDs now, the loading screens wont even give snake enough time to smoke
"The issue is that konami made the game in the ps3 rendering engine so it physically cant be ported without emulation or rebuilding the game from the ground up, thats why they made the fox engine for 5 and survive"
MGS4 with the Fox engine would be INSANE. But I have a sneaking suspicion they are waiting a couple of months for V2 because theyre either working on a new Remake/Title in the MGS entry so they can make more money with bundling/marketing, or.. Here's hoping they're just cooking it up in the Fox engine.
Fox Engine will be my personal Roman Empire, because that was my first magical experience with a game on my old ass laptop.
Yea, I couldn’t afford super-mega high graphics, but it was smooth like butter. No lags, no waiting for models to render. Just pure bliss.
I watched technical demos, amazed how realistic textures were, especially reflective one. I wanted to learn more about this amazing thing that brought so much joy to broke student.
I told all my friends about, I was so hyped, just because my laptop could process this game without turning into hell’s furnace. This damn thing was like a poem, I swear.
And what they did.
They took it away.
To never used it again. Fuck you, Konami. I loved it.
