name: Aroihkin
nickname: Aro
zodiac sign: Taurus/Ox, my birfday is cinco de mayo.
height: very short
languages: English
Nationality: MURIKKKA (sigh) more specifically a typical american caucasian mutt
favorite season: Fall I guess since it’s not at all cold here in central Cali, but the part of the state I live in isn’t literally on fire. Usually. Knock on wood. Spring can kind of go fuck itself because what little rain we get usually happens then, and in huge bursts that don’t actually seep into the ground, and I have to work outside in it.
favorite flower: I have no idea lmao
favorite scent: Lately whenever I walk into my apartment and the strongest scent is from my welding bag sitting in the living room, that makes me pretty happy. It’s a combination of molten steel offgasses, burning flux, and warm leather. IDK it just smells like ‘I did a good job’. I also like that my apartment smells so little like anything else that my welding bag can sometimes be the strongest scent in the room, considering it’s not potent at all.
Otherwise, probably blackberries.
favorite color: Light turquoise/aqua, in that zone.
favorite animal: All animals are good! But every dog I see is a good pupper.
favorite fictional character: Probably Zevran Arainai, but I have a lot of favorites.
coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: I like all three, and regularly combine coffee with hot chocolate.
average hours of sleep: I aim for 9 and hope.
cat or dog person: Both are great but I have kitties right now and no doggos. They’re just a lot easier while living that apartment life. Someday I’d like to have a couple of both.
number of blankets you sleep with: I will lay there freezing for a while before I’ll pull my one blanket on. It’s a side effect of the eight years where I wasn’t allowed to sleep more than four hours at a time before someone would be pounding on the wall demanding my immediate presence. It’s something I’m actively working on.
dream trip: IDK I’ve never had the option so I don’t give it much thought.
blog established: November 2011
followers: 647 which I feel like ain’t bad for not being a fandom blog
a random fact: Uhhh... I own a robot vac (Neato D3) who I named Beep Boop in the app, but usually call Beeper when I invariably talk to it while it does its beeperly bidding. There’s something awfully endearing about it when I get a message on my phone that’s like: Beep Boop: I’m stuck! like aww, buddy.
It’s not just a novelty item, either, beeper cleans the floor real nice. I got rid of my upright vac during the move because beeper does just as good a job.

ditto to that having one person who cheers you on as you fic is ALL the motivation one needs. <3
Ahh, it is the best, and it’s such a happy thing to have someone like that in your creative life!

Read the first part then read this entry and omg this is such a good verse and the way they're so into each other so fast is adorable and I love this
awww, thank you
I just. I love mutual pining, I do, but I just cannot believe in any set-up for Magnus & Alec in which they are not aware of their instant incoherent attraction. Thinking they can’t do anything about it, sure, but they looked at each other and went oh and I love that too much to believe in a world where that didn’t happen.
I mean. tbf this is an intro to a Persuasion re-write I keep neglecting, so they are blissfully hopeful for all of five minutes but don’t get together and then are miserable for like 100k words before they manage their second-chance but they never tried to pretend they hadn’t been attracted to each other
I don’t know why that’s an important caveat for me, but it is
I really should actually write it some day.

I totally feel you on the rec post dilemma! not sure if it helps but my philosophy is that recs are as much about whatever mood I'm in at the time as it is the fic. like I might think of 5 different fic lists on 5 different days depending on what's on my mind. if you cant decide maybe you could try a themed rec list? like fluff or angst or by type of AU?
This is a fair point, I mean. I get asked assorted “favorites” in different memes all the time and I usually come up with different answers. :D
Except for Martha Wells and Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day, but that’s not because they’re inherently more my favorites than anything else, but because they’re my favorites AND almost no one else ever seems to be familiar enough with them, while if I mention (for example) Cordelia/Aral someone always yells back a delighted Vorkosigan! at me

fyi i have read wrought by prayer many times (it is in my very, very short list of bookmarks) and it left me teary every single time. <3
awwww, thank you
that fic is entirely your fault too! So it works out well, we can be sad at each other for ever <3
foxghost replied to your post: Good god I can’t believe we elected that buffoon...
I always jokes that Mike Harris inoculated us against pc for the next 3 decades, but apparently ON needs a booster shot. Hope he doesnt do as much damage before he’s done
I honestly don’t get it I mean he’s LITERALLY his brother Rob Ford minus the cocaine binges??? I guess we don’t care who leads the party as long as they lie loudly and consistently enough about tax cuts and more jobs, as though saying it will miraculously make it fucking happen. Like we’ve learned NOTHING from our neighbours south of the border. I’m disgusted ugh.
foxghost replied to your post “we cannot say this sentence "you don't have that kind of value" mean...”
what i'm trying to say is that there's even less room in the original to interpret it as anything but a way to dash all of aki's hopes of saving his friends, because all it says is "Something like value? You don't have it."
I disagree that Asami’s anger and word choice narrows what’s really going on. I think it underscores the deeper sense of what he is saying. There is a meaning behind his words that he isn’t letting on.
But even on the surface, you have to look at that line in the context of the scene. Look at where Aki throws himself at Asami’s feet, begging for help. And Asami brings up the question of value here. “Such an act from you is of no worth to me, neither are the lives of your friends.” Aki is appealing to any feeling Asami may have for him and Asami is rejecting it.
Yes, you can read that infamous line as simply Asami’s angry attempt to keep Aki from doing something foolish. But keep in mind that Asami starts this scene angry because Aki only came to him for help for his friends, not because Aki wanted to see him. That’s the anger that drives Asami to ridicule Aki for going to his knees and it carries through the scene. He’s not just angry that Aki won’t listen to him. He’s angry that Aki came to use him. So when he says that line, it’s in response to Aki accusing him of not caring, while inside, Asami is struggling with the fact that he DOES care, very much. And then the sex scene, which is all about “See? I said you weren’t my lover but look: you are” is a physical expression of those tangled emotions. So I think there’s plenty of room to interpret Asami’s feelings and a multi-layered anger in this scene. (and then again, it’s entirely possible I’m putting way more thought into this than sensei ever did. Heh.)

After like 10 playthroughs, I still finite necessary to consult a spreadsheet where playing that game
Yeah, it’s one of those. I don’t think my brain is cut out for that level of complexity, honestly.
I think Tides of Numenera does the intricate-lore thing well without making the quests and character development so labyrinthine that I lose my mind.
