12, 13, 17, 20 for Author asks!
12. Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?
Answered here.
13. Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?
I hate writing canon Brujah because they all have the exact same personality.
(Haven’t written him, but Pattermuster from VTMNR was such a nice change of pace! Instead of the “I’m for social justice and angry about it and that’s my entire personality!” he just wanted to get by, look after his people, do sickass tricks with his swords and occasionally punched walls. He was awesome!)
17. Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.
(Context: Wendy is on a phone call with the Nosferatu primogen.)
“I’ll have Kaiser induct you.”
Kaiser started swearing in the background again.
“He doesn’t sound happy about that,” said Wendy.
20. Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?
Endings are usually what I’m most confident about.
Altho... part one of The Obsidian Dawn... took me years to understand why people fucking hated how it ended, and now I finally do I wish I’d done it differently.
Oh I have a question! I only have a very small yard, of which I don’t get much real estate because Mom hoards plants worse than me. But I would love to have a small homestead like your own. So since I have such a small space what would be your essentials for trying to live sustainably and eco friendly?
First, I don’t think there’s any such thing as one concrete list of “essentials”. Thing is, humans specializing is like...part of the definition of civilization, you know? You make yogurt, swap Magda over-creek for eggs. You all make your own sourdough, but Heinrich put in the effort for a really nice big oven, so most of you go to him to bake it. You shear your sheep, take it to Aldreda’s family at the forest’s edge, they clean it and keep a percentage as payment. I digress, but the point is that everyone can experiment and find the things that really speak to them, that work with their space and their schedule and their interests. Maybe they find things that they like well enough to double down on and start sharing and trading with others. That’s where it’s at, to me. Sustainability is a community effort.
But! Some things that can be done in very little space:
--Quail can be kept in like...a rabbit hutch, and are very simple to keep and quiet so they won’t bother neighbors. You can get eggs even if you don’t have enough space for chickens. Or you can keep like four chickens in a pretty darn small space too.
--Fermenting. Personally, I love it, and all the commitment it takes is enough counter space for a few mason jars, veggies, and salt. There’s a lot of good information online, but you can make a huge range of pickled veggies (curry cauliflower is amazingly good). Or keep a kombucha culture. Or get a crockpot from the thrift store and make your own yogurt, if you eat a lot of yogurt.
--Sprouts. You can buy seeds for sprouting--broccoli is good, radish sprouts are ever so slighly spicy, you can go classic and do mung bean sprouts if you like to cook stir fries or pho. For some reason they sell all sorts of sprouting devices but really you just need a jar with holes punched in the lid.
--Culinary herbs. If you have a sunny stretch of wall or fence, you could even do one of these:
Herbs in a hanging shoe sorter! I love it.
--Compost. I lied, if anything’s essential, this is. Staying in places where I have to throw away my food waste makes me sadface. In an ideal world, we’d have community composting, and food waste would be collected. But in the meantime, there are a lot of compost tumblers and things meant for small spaces. I don’t know shit about them because I have the luxury of a big ugly bin I just throw stuff in and then don’t think about it until two years later it’s amazing dirt.
Anyway this is already too long but there really are a ton of good options for small spaces. My best advice is to experiment and then go with the ones that catch your interest, and not worry about the fact that you’re not doing everything.
You know what I’m about >.> No point in hiding. Prompt, whoever you feel like writing for, just go with it!: "You really fucked me up, you know that? I've never had this problem with a client before--I shouldn't have this problem with a client ever." - "No feelings. That was our deal." - "I can't give you what you want. I can't give you a normal relationship."
a list from which I have the same weakness
It probably went without saying that Cullen hadn’t planned for things to turn out this way. From the comments people made, some more outright teasing than others, he certainly didn’t look the part either. But, as it turned out, shops in college towns were a lot less flexible with schedules than one might expect. And when you had some surprisingly capable friends determined to make things work for you—no matter how odd their efforts—you learned to simply be grateful.
Not that it hadn’t been odd, at first, of course. But, apparently, that seemed to work for some people.
There were some that were still a little too odd, for which Josephine made no qualms about removing from streams in the most terrifyingly polite way possible. But, truth be told, Cullen was surprised by just how many people wanted to just hear him speak kindly of their day to day experiences, along with watching him stick a hand down his pants somewhere in between.
Let alone that the first person to offer him a truly ludicrous sum for private sessions turned out to be so unexpectedly sweet.
Apparently it was something known as the “partner experience”. All that Cullen knew was that it was something he had to pretend he didn’t wait for between sessions just as impatiently.
“It’s not that I’m not flattered,” Cullen said, “but, really, shouldn’t you be asleep by now?” He still refused to show his face on camera, so all of this was being conducted over voice chat. But that didn’t keep Dorian’s frustrated little scoff from coming through clear as ever.
“But you’re my reward,” was the reply.
Cullen couldn’t help but chuckle at that. “For which?” he asked. “Getting your paper done or resisting the urge to actually strangle your professor?”
There was a faint rustling noise as Dorian shifted around. Probably trying to draw himself up for a proper debate, regardless of the time. None of which should be as cute as it was. “If you knew the man,” he said, “there wouldn’t be half as much judgement in your tone.”
“It’s Solas, right?” Cullen said. “I don’t have any of his classes, but from what I’ve heard…”
Even after Dorian’s sharp intake of breath it still took him a second or two to realize the misstep he had just made.
“Wait.” All traces of grogginess were fleeing from Dorian’s tone now. “You know him? Do you go to–”
“Dorian,” Cullen cut in, making his voice as firm as he could make it. “I can’t give you this. You know that.”
The silence stretched on for long enough that Cullen actually dragged his cursor over to the disconnect button, jumping when a voice actually stopped him.
“I wouldn’t judge you,” Dorian said. “I hope you know that, at least.”
Cullen drew in an unsteady breath, closing his eyes for a moment. He could picture, if he tried, holding hands with a man with a smile as warm as Dorian’s voice. But it wasn’t an easy thing to do when he had Leliana’s own words undercutting it all.
“Don’t get lost in your own fantasy.”
“That’s kind of you to say.”
*
Cullen pretended not to be hurt through the lack of contact after that. Final exams were still wrapping up, after all, and there were plenty of other things for a man as socially graceful as Dorian to occupy himself with over break.
Besides, maybe this was just what they both needed–a nice, straightforward separation.
It carried him through to the first class of the next semester. At least until he had to pretend he wasn’t choking on his coffee during the introduction portion of the lecture, dodging Leliana’s concerned looks and wondering whether it was worth it to come up with a fake name.
Anything to keep Dorian fucking Pavus down in the front row from looking back at him.

name: Aroihkin
nickname: Aro
zodiac sign: Taurus/Ox, my birfday is cinco de mayo.
height: very short
languages: English
Nationality: MURIKKKA (sigh) more specifically a typical american caucasian mutt
favorite season: Fall I guess since it’s not at all cold here in central Cali, but the part of the state I live in isn’t literally on fire. Usually. Knock on wood. Spring can kind of go fuck itself because what little rain we get usually happens then, and in huge bursts that don’t actually seep into the ground, and I have to work outside in it.
favorite flower: I have no idea lmao
favorite scent: Lately whenever I walk into my apartment and the strongest scent is from my welding bag sitting in the living room, that makes me pretty happy. It’s a combination of molten steel offgasses, burning flux, and warm leather. IDK it just smells like ‘I did a good job’. I also like that my apartment smells so little like anything else that my welding bag can sometimes be the strongest scent in the room, considering it’s not potent at all.
Otherwise, probably blackberries.
favorite color: Light turquoise/aqua, in that zone.
favorite animal: All animals are good! But every dog I see is a good pupper.
favorite fictional character: Probably Zevran Arainai, but I have a lot of favorites.
coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: I like all three, and regularly combine coffee with hot chocolate.
average hours of sleep: I aim for 9 and hope.
cat or dog person: Both are great but I have kitties right now and no doggos. They’re just a lot easier while living that apartment life. Someday I’d like to have a couple of both.
number of blankets you sleep with: I will lay there freezing for a while before I’ll pull my one blanket on. It’s a side effect of the eight years where I wasn’t allowed to sleep more than four hours at a time before someone would be pounding on the wall demanding my immediate presence. It’s something I’m actively working on.
dream trip: IDK I’ve never had the option so I don’t give it much thought.

a random fact: Uhhh... I own a robot vac (Neato D3) who I named Beep Boop in the app, but usually call Beeper when I invariably talk to it while it does its beeperly bidding. There’s something awfully endearing about it when I get a message on my phone that’s like: Beep Boop: I’m stuck! like aww, buddy.
It’s not just a novelty item, either, beeper cleans the floor real nice. I got rid of my upright vac during the move because beeper does just as good a job.

Fanfic writers questions 20-25! 🌸
20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?
Ending a story is always really difficult for me to be honest. Finding a way of doing the whole thing justice... so difficult. Having said that, as of right now I’m pretty content with my current stories. I’m more frustrated by the ones I haven’t finished. I wish they would have an ending already. XD
21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?
I found several of my favorite fanfic authors in the early 2000s. They had a lot of influence on me back then and I can see that influence even now, but I don’t think the majority of them have a Tumblr! :0 However, the ones in question are:
Bloodshot Eyes - She writes some truly magnificent angsty fics for Death Note. In particular, I really love her story “Genius Is a Curse” for dealing with what a depressed Yagami Light would really entail and how that would fit in with his relationship with L. I really admire her for coming back to the story recently, too! I always think that kind of thing is awesome; no matter how long, a story isn’t ever really forgotten. ^^
CaptainKase - She wrote some great stuff for Fullmetal Alchemist. Her story “Dawn” is the one that stands out to me most in my recollection. She has a great writing style: detailed, smooth, and great story ideas that are unusual. Definitely recommend!
Sevlow - She has written so many stories for FMA that I completely obsessed over that I’m not sure I can pick just one. The angst in her stories is just exquisite, but what I loved most was that she would really put you through the wringer and then give you an ending that was really satisfying. It made sense and wasn’t just a bleak storm of emotion. Often there was quite a bit of hope there, but not in a way that felt cheap. At any rate, the stories I really love from her are “Number Twenty-Eight,” which I’m pretty sure had a permanent influence on how we all look at chimeras, “Forgiveness” was the first I read and totally got me hooked, and then “Crash” was also pretty memorable. Honestly, I love all her stuff so much....
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?
I had an entire stage of life where I looked back on literally everything I’d ever written as cringey. XD I’m glad I’ve overcome that, though. At the time it was “Four Chambers of a Heart,” which I’d written for Death Note when I was ... 14? About? Naturally, when you’re 14 your writing won’t be as good as when you grow older and that was something that bothered me at the time. I’ve since reposted it because, well, it may not be as good as something I’d write now but isn’t it good to see your own progress? I rather wish I hadn’t taken it down in the first place; it had so many reviews on FF.Net. People were a lot more generous with reviewing back then....
23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?
I usually like some music. I try to stick with music that won’t distract me too much, so lately I listen to a lot of Susanne Sundfør, Sarah Longfield, Jean-Michel Jarre, Dance with the Dead, Lisa Gerrard, Eivør, and Forndom. However, I often listen to things that are more “distracting” (although sometimes you need this kind of music for writing, too) and I’ll go with Blind Guardian, Ayreon, and Nightwish to list a few. I also play a ton of soundtracks, random pop songs, and meme music, which I like to think of as it’s own genre. XD
24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes?
Hmm, not really my thing. I like to include sensuality in romance fics, but for me having smut in the fic often detracts from the romance. Having said that, if at some point I felt more graphic scenes were absolutely necessary to the story... maybe. But even then I think I’d keep it more implied (or just not as smutty as what most people consider smut, I guess). That’s a personal writing thing though, and I don’t have a problem with people including it in their own stories if it makes sense to do so.
25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?
I don’t think I’ve cried while writing a story yet, but I’ve felt pretty emotional about certain scenes, especially in the pre-writing stage. XD
Thanks for sending these in! They were a lot of fun to answer. ^^
@varghaxa @heartsyhawk @emotionalmorphine @xiz0r @kagetsukai -- Thanks for all your replies to my post, and on the one hand I feel better to know it’s not just me, but on the other hand I’m sorry to hear you’ve all had such stressful experiences with Discord. ❤️
For me, it’s not been any particular server that’s making me feel this way, just a general thing I’ve been feeling since I joined Discord in early 2017 and I’m wondering if it might be healthier for me to take breaks from Discord more frequently than I actually do. Perhaps I’m not just suited for it? I don’t know. I mean, I know I already complain about Tumblr a lot, so I feel a little bad for complaining about Discord as well 😂 Maybe I’m just someone who doesn’t cope very well with social media and needs to limit all of it more generally in order to not exhaust myself, I don’t know.
That’s not to say I’ve had no positive Discord experiences at all, though -- some of the most awesome people I’ve got to know have been through messaging each other on Discord ❤️ and I’d never have got to know them (or even talk to them) through just Tumblr. And Discord is a better place for storing messages and things you send each other because it’s easier to find them again.
Perhaps a break might be in order for me.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experiences, I really appreciate them and it’s helpful to know it’s not just me ❤️ I guess finding the best fandom and social media experience for us is something everyone needs to do!
That’s it. You won the Pokémon fusion game. Everyone else can go home. Dewshrew omg. I’m crying with my demented sharp flower.
Don’t worry
All fusions are valid!
