thinking about the way i write fox and riyo. part of it is that i do genuinely have a very different take on their characters and their potential relationship than the majority of shippers, but part of it is that i am contrary by nature and if i read too many stories that do one thing, i have to be the writer who does the other thing. i've read all the sweet wholesome fluffy stories. they are lovely. i love them. if i try to write something like that i will lose my mind. fox and riyo want each other dead for a significant percentage of this longfic and in fact for a significant percentage of every one-shot and au i have for them. and that is what i can handle writing. and this is what i will contribute to the fandom.

foxriyo only works if Palpatine was brainwashing Fox systematically and their romance started OUTSIDE of those brainwashings OR if fox genuinly never questioned his orders because "how could the chancellor be a bad guy??? he was elected by the republic?" much like EVERYONE NEVER questioned Palpatine; and their romance started naturally.

my thing about fox and riyo is that they are both absolutely, unrepentantly ruthless. and in canon fox is putting every effort into maintaining his precarious hold on his small amount of power, and riyo is attempting to use her secure position of power to do some good in the galaxy. so. canon. hm. but i can see them clicking really well in any kind of au where they have the same goal.
