Merry Christmas Eve from the Christmas name-themed plant himself: Rudolph

Rudolph is a Foxtail Fern and is currently recovering from some freezing weather. Regardless, Rudolph sleighs the plant game and ho ho holds onto the merry spirit of the holidays.

My Foxtail Fern finally decided to make a new frond. I've apparently stressed it out for a good long while cus it was practically in stasis since summer. Now it's starting to fill out and I'm really excited cus it's the biggest frond yet!

Say hi to one of my largest plants, Rudolph! This foxtail fern is one of my more recent plants but has been growing and sprouting new stems like crazy!! You can even see one of the new lighter stems in the front. I absolutely cannot wait to see how large he grows. Out of all my plants, he seems to be loving my new DIY fertilizer made up of dried, crushed eggshells the most!

Fun Fact: I had originally named this guy Assy, as in short for Asparagus due to its similar appearances to my favorite vegetable; however, Cam and I were talking about decorating it up a little during the holidays with little ornaments because it looks like mini Christmas trees, hence the new name Rudolph!

Pictured: one very root-bound dude. Just gave him a bigger pot. This foxtail fern is many years old. I first got it as a 2″ terrarium plant. His new pot is an 8″.
