A Dreary Day in Milwaukee
Here’s some action on the Milwaukee Road in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I believe I was shooting from a spot where East National Avenue ducks under the multi-track main line. In any case, a freight is being over-taken by a Chicago to Milwaukee Amtrak Hiawatha.
The freight, powered by four F-units and a switcher, is on the track that will peel off prior to the passenger station and head westward toward Muskego Yard; the Hiawatha, at this time being covered by French turbos, will continue on and make a big left turn into the covered platform area of the passenger station.
There’s a lot here to feast on if one is a rail enthusiast: the covered wagons (led by an FP7A built in 1950), jointed rail, the new-looking RTG (turbo), a transfer caboose, as well as what is now an historical Milwaukee skyline.
