man i was thinking about an au where everything goes along canon lines until right after Robin gets Al-an's body segments at that point shortly after she's jumped by some mysterious (non Alterra) person who breaks into her base without triggering alarms and literally comes for her life.
Nearly escaping both realize that who ever it was stole the segments!
And mysteriously was fluent in using precursor technology yet Al-an claims they are human.
They soon find this person wants something from them, specifically Al-an, and they are willing to kill Robin to obtain the alien trapped in her head.
A crapload of close calls later and showdown ideally innthe ice cavern her sibling died in the manage to trick their peruser, but things get more confusing when she finds that the person who was desperately trying to off her was herself!
A Robin from a future timeline inwhich Al-an died and desperately planned on pilfering the precursor from a alternate timeline and then severing it by killing her dominant self there.
I like to think in the end F! Robin manages to steal Al-an and flee that timeline unable to kill her past self , leaving past Robin to follow her into a future inwhich she lived in precursor society.
So like everyone thinks she's her future self and slowly she learns about the life she lead post khaara and what lead to Al-an's death and how she plans on wiping past al-an in a desperate attempt to upload a corrupt data set into him in hopes of installing future Al-an.
She also learns that they became a thing, something that she hadn't even considered in her timeline.
