In my graphic novel writing/visual storytelling book (Called “Framed Ink” by Marcos Mateu-Mestre) it says it’s important that authors are “not telling the audience things, but rather making them feel things”.
It later states under that section,
“So, as much as possible, we will be better off giving the audience the opportunity to create their own reality in their minds. Let them own the visuals and therefore the story, up to a degree. Let’s give them the elements they need so that they can subconsciously feel the urge to fill in the gaps with what is only insinuated to them”.
I feel quite proud of the anti-sessrin side of the fandom because this is exactly what we’ve done We have filled in the gaps with hints/clues that the show is strongly insinuating towards us. I hope we are right.
