Sometimes a family is you, your “mum”, “dad”, “uncle”, “grandpa” and “grandpa’s” dead schoolmate...
Holy shoot I found your post on Pinterest of Francis and Freyja and that led me to your blog. I now love your oc she’s amazing.
✨⭐️🌻💖 I love everything about this message thank you so much! 💖🌻⭐️✨ (((internally screaming over here)))
Your lovely message gave me the energy to draw a follow up piece to flower crown Freyja but with Francis this time! Here they are, in the good timeline where Francis gets adopted! Just being happy and dancing at Penny’s wedding reception ✨✨
Just wanted to chime in to say I love your artstyle, how much life you're able to breathe into Freyja, as well as her character herself. I'm almost scared to know how much time it took for you to get to that level (゜д゜;) Also, since you seem to be on a Mando spree - I can't help but think of a Din/Freyja and Grogu/Francis parallel
✨😭❤️
I’ve been staring and crying at this ask since last year there’s literally nothing I don’t love about it!!! I never expected to keep Freyja as a character for very long, but ideas and story development just kept coming, you know? I’ve been developing her for like 3 years I think, and she has changed a lot since I started!
Btw I’m still not over the mando s2 finale 😭 Reminded me of one possible “ending” where Freyja gives up Francis for adoption like she had fully intended to do once a suitable family was found for him.... but that parallel is too sad to draw right now so have this little scribble instead:
Freyja canonically drives a shitty early 1980s Honda Civic (which originally belonged to her dad), and has no qualms drifting around corners with wee Frankie in the front passenger seat.
So i was wondering, what if Freyja ended up adopting Francis? How would their dymanic be as a family? 👀
✨CONGRATULATIONS YOU’VE UNLOCKED THE GOOD ENDING ✨
They were kind of thrown together by chance, two stubborn people who were struggling with the changes brought to their lives after the War. From awkward politeness to bottled up guilt and anger to actually communicating to… their own little family?
At the foundations of it, they are thankful for each other. They’d both had to endure tough times, but now they have the chance to move forward and live life they way they want - to the fullest, with people to support them.
other bits and pieces
Francis wanted Freyja to teach him magic. Obviously, being a Muggle, he couldn’t cast spells. Instead she taught him how to use Floo Powder in case of an emergency, and how to spot cursed objects.
They live mostly like Muggles, to help Francis develop his life skills like any Muggle child.
Francis’ first gift to Freyja was on Mothers Day, 1999. It was a surprise to her, as he had never called her ‘mum’, or referred to her as his mother. But she started seriously considering adopting him.
It was on Francis’ birthday that Freyja made the offer to formally adopt him. And she was terrified to do it - she thought it might be presumptuous of her to think he might want to stay with her instead of being adopted by a “normal” two-parent family.
Francis meanwhile was happy to know that he was actually wanted, and not just kept out of guilt, or out of an obligation to duty.
Given they’re only about 16-17 years apart, sometimes they act more like siblings or friends rather than a parent and child.
The first time Francis called Freyja ‘mum’ was completely by accident. It was awkward for both of them, they kind of just pretended it didn’t happen.
Francis made Freyja watch the Disney movie Mulan with him, saying she’d like it because Mulan had a sword. She was fighting back tears at the scene where Mulan came back home to her family. It was soon after that she went back to her grandmother’s house to apologise to her family for running away years before.
(2024) Paganism Persisting: A History of European Paganisms Since Antiquity, Robin Douglas & Francis Young. 23/06/2026 - 12/07/2026
Rating: 6/10
This took me so long to get through, despite being short and also something I am super interested in. I think it is written pretty well, I just found it to be a bit of a slog but that might also be me coming out of a reading phase.
I think this was very male focussed, despite trying to not be. It also rushes some discussions like Wicca isn't really discussed outside of being described as a modern pagan religion. The authors don't follow really interesting side paths that they introduce too, for example there was a SINGLE SENTENCE on the historical ties between paganism in general, gay men and lesbians. This has so much more that could be said and I wish they had done a chapter on it in relation to paganism persisting to modern times.
I will say this book taught me a lot about nationalism and paganism, especially in regards to "newer" countries such as Lithuania. I had never really considered that countries could/would have to develop their own folklore and pagan history. It ended with a look to the future and "ambient paganism" which is people essentially picking and choosing aspects of spirituality from various belief systems (religious or not) to subscribe to without committing to any religious adherence - which I think is how I would describe my own spirituality and how I have seen a lot of other people deal with the spiritual side of life.

Ringing Bells on St Edmund’s Eve
This year, the bells of the Norman Tower will ring out on the eve of St Edmund’s Day(the evening of 19 November) for the first time in centuries. From the earliest days of Christianity, the Church has begun its celebration of feast days on the evening before (a practice derived from Judaism), giving rise to the existence of ‘vigils’ attached to all of the major…
