You sent me this hella years ago and I’m just now getting to it. Cool, Mary. Cool.
1. A really riveting story. This can be in a book, movie, TV show, or song. Something that is interesting enough nowadays to hold or even require my attention to understand is so hard to find and as much as I sound like a pretentious jerk, it has to be something pretty spectacular. ((I understand that the concept of something being spectacular is relative, but I digress))
Most of the time when I’m watching a TV show or movie, I can allocate about 2% of my attention to it and keep up with the story. The quality of music has also declined in recent years ((I’m getting old)), so an interesting lyric, vocal, or plot literally gets my heart racing faster. I like to be engaged!!
2. Working on a tedious project with my hands. I love losing myself to the outside world when crafting something, especially a gift for someone I love. Legos were my favourite toy as a child, and I’d spend hours upon hours building whole societies in my room. I don’t mind doing meticulous work.
3. Being photographed. I absolutely adore being in front of a camera or on a stage of some sort. I used to be deeply self-conscious of my appearance when I was a teenager, but when I started modelling in high school, that all went down the drain. I love putting on makeup and getting outfits ready to make sure I look my best every time I leave the house and am always ready for a photo op!
4. My family. Ever since I started losing functionality when I moved back in with my mom and dad, mom makes a point every morning to make sure I’m awake, fed, and have done everything necessary to have a good day. It’s taken some time for her to learn to deal with someone who has as many illnesses as I do, but in the past couple of years we’ve really bonded and I can make myself cry thinking of the day she won’t be here anymore. I’d certainly be dead by now if it wasn’t for the stalwart support of my family.
5. Making new friends and talking to people. This is really cheesy, but nothing beats a great conversation or discovering someone is a brilliant conversationalist. I sometimes find myself wondering if I babble on and get on people’s nerves with how talkative I am, so it’s a breath of fresh air to meet someone who can both speak and listen actively and we can mutually keep up with each other’s topic choices. Wonderful.
