I got an incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens) from the city of Seattle, complete with mulch and a watering bag, all for free. The woman at the Center for Urban Horticulture who snapped the pic for me said a guy last year came on his bike with a trailer and towed his tree home, and she thought me taking my tree on the bus was fantastic. 

The two bus drivers who drive my home bound routes both fell in love with my tree at first sight and I let them each smell it. 

It's the Trees for Seattle program, and I believe the Univ of WA grows all these things, and staffed the tree-planting trainings and plant pickup. They're going to email everyone who got trees in the spring, when it's time to start using the watering bags, to better guarantee the trees establish and survive their first year. It's a project by the city to increase the tree canopy in the 67% of the city that is residential.

I got to cut a line of like 30 cars as the one person not picking up that way. That was kinda cool and easily saved me 30-45 minutes. The hardest part was literally the last eight steps, up my front steps to backyard level from the street.

Today at work I was given a Blue Spruce seedling named John and I'm very excited to pot him and help him get big and strong and then I can use his branches for guinea pig snacks and I can use his needles to make soda and he can provide shade and homes for the critters in our neighborhood and just vibe

Had a great nap, and then I put away all my clean laundry and picked up my mail! My new book of checks hasn't come in yet, but if anyone near me wants 33% off a tree from The Arbor Foundation and a free 3' to 4' red maple, I have a coupon for that now. I don't own any property and I'll ask around, but I don't think my mom or grandparents want 2 trees right now, lmao.

I'm about to apartment search again. I really don't want to. Wish me luck.
