friendly reminder that native/métis/inuit people can be white-passing, but that doesn’t at all make them white and calling them that is very insulting.
this includes ppl who found out their ancestry later in life as many of us were told we were white as a means of protection against policies of the day
Hey so I just witnessed another person complaining abt people wanting to be paid for art (basically saying "cavemen didn't take cave paintings and demand payment from each other") and so
Frembly Rememblies:
Artists typically don't demand payment for art they do for free! They just post it if it's something they wanna show.
A lot of artists offer free requests if they're reasonable. "Can you draw a rainy day Taako?" "Yeah, sure! Here's a Taako doodle".
If you're asking for more than that, it is completely reasonable to ask for payment! No, cavemen didn't request payment for their art, but professional artists sure did. Michaelangelo didn't paint the Sistine Chapel for free!! He was commissioned to put his time and effort into it, so he got paid.
Many artists use the money they get from commissions to help make their living. Saying that you shouldn't have to pay for the art you requested is equivalent to telling them that their art isn't worth giving them the money they need to survive.
tl;dr it's totally reasonable for artists to ask for money for their art. Don't be the asshole that sends anons chewing them out for it.
these legs are still wide open if you need them you GIANT CUNT
