Since a few years, advertising societies have been using songs from the first season of AHS for their ads. I don’t know why they thought using these songs would be good? Maybe they saw it was trending and did not realized it was because they came from a horror show? But the worst thing is that they use it as supposedly “happy” songs when they are not particularly...
The latest example is an advertisement about fruit juice to drink in the morning, showing a happy family drinking it to the “Tonight You Belong to Me” song. Okay, this one was happy and cheerful before AHS took it, this can be excused.
BUT THE WHISTLE SONG! Bloody hell, no! The whistle song, the theme of Tate Langdon, is now reused for... everything! I have seen it in two different ads for two different cars, in an ad for school bags and in another ad about a meal you can share with your family. Here they have no excuse, because outside of AHS the song was used only in Kill Bill for a murder scene - AND THE SONG ORIGINATED FROM A HORROR MOVIE TO! It was composed for Twisted Nerves, a movie about a murderous stalker. They have NO reason to mistake it for a happy song about cheerful families or someone going on for a walk by the beach...
But they did because those stupid ad people saw it was popular and trending and thought “It sounds cheerful. Doesn’t mind what it comes from, let’s just use it!”
In France it is not the first time they do that - they turned a lot of respectable, honorable or sad songs into commercial jingles or advertisement songs, and it is so sad because when you discover the original and you want to appreciate it, you just can’t help thinking of a pot of sugar or a perfume.
