Buzz: Son, you're graduating soon. How are your grades looking?
Tank: Good! I've been doing good. All A's, mostly...
Buzz: Great! I expect no less from you. I've talked to the head of the Strangetown Base, they're always looking for college educated military personnel for various tasks. This could be an excellent opportunity for you to start your career with decent salary.
Tank: I... I don't know Father... I'm not sure I...
Tank: I'm not sure I want to go back to the military.
Buzz: Then what are you going to do?
Tank: Well, with a degree in Drama, I though maybe-
Buzz: It doesn't matter what you majored in at college. Nobody cares about that in real life. And that's your luck probably, otherwise nobody would take you seriously with your paper in theatrics.
Tank: But... the creative industry would... that's kind of the point...
Buzz: Do you seriously think you can afford paying rent and bills by singing and dancing in silly costumes like a fool?
Tank: Performing is not the only thing you can do w-
Buzz: Cut it out. If you think you're just going to move back home and live comfortably in my house rent free like a leech when you're a grown man, you're wrong. You need to grow up. I offered you help with employment so you can stand on your own two feet properly, but I can take it back.
Tank: But that's exactly what I'm trying to do, find my feet by myself!
Buzz: It was that alien, wasn't it? He polluted your brain like that. What did you think would happen when you moved into the same house as him? I should have stopped you. Has he hurt you?
Tank: No! It's been okay, no need to worry really.
Buzz: So you put him in this place finally?
Tank: N- Well, yeah, kind of, I have, yeah.
Ripp: The second I leave for college you move in your new girlfriend? Seriously? Did you even think about how Buck was going to feel?
Buzz: Buck is 13! He's old enough to understand his father has needs. I can only hope he turns out nothing like you, because all YOU ever cared about as a teenager were your own needs!
Ripp: You know what? I also hope he turns out way different, because if he's anything like me, he's going to break under your totalitarian domestic terror the same way I did, and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.
Buzz: This is why I never invite you! You couldn't be more ungrateful if you tried. Go ahead and ruin yourself doing illegal substances with your deviant hippie friends at college and don't even bother coming home. I won't help you get yourself together when you start to regret everything.
No matter how tough and resilient Ripp wanted to show up, deep down he was still hurt by his father's words.
