Through no fault of our own and largely as a result of a colonial vestige in our minds, a majority of Africans/Blacks and other indigenous peoples can only view and understand the world through European eyes and perspective. What this often results in is us being unable to properly comprehend and deal with many phenomena we encounter through life - much to our own detriment. This is one of the reasons 'Decolonising Education' has become a major feature in recent years, to correct some of these inaccuracies and limitations a strictly Eurocentric worldview can have in our discernment. How often we get people inboxing us scared to death just because they had a dream or encounter with a snake and automatically equate it as being 'evil' because their first point of comprehension with this divine creature is from the 'Adam & Eve' stories from the Bible. Hardly any are aware of the role(s) it has played in Nature-Centred cosmologies for eons and as a result, the actually miss the lesson in the experience due to fear programmed into them by a particular religious outlook. The only way out of this mental retardation is to see the world through the eyes of our Ancestors and this involves study to learn their perspectives and world-views. Therefore an active approach to re-learning their ways is an absolute must if we are to break the false codes in our minds!
