My fitness tracker keeps congratulating me on reaching my daily step goal. Little does it know, I just walked from the couch to the fridge and back.

So, there were some onions in my fridge. As happens from time to time, one of the onions began to sprout.

Days went by. Each time I cooked, I would choose a different onion, leaving the sprouted onion alone.

The sprouts grew taller and more numerous, until they reached the shelf above.

Today, I picked up the sprouted onion from the fridge and placed it on my counter.

It was slightly shrivelled in the bulb, having used much of its energy to produce the green shoots. There were many papery layers of onion skin shrouding it, and the shoots were pale chartreuse, having experienced only the cool darkness of my refridgerator.

Would this be a good onion to eat? Perhaps, perhaps not.

I never found out.
