Mum bought herself a bowl of Braised Duck Porridge (卤鸭粥) or congee if you preferred. The rice porridge is slow cooked till soft and gooey then drizzled with the savoury braising gravy of the duck and topped with chopped up boneless duck meat and fried shallots.

For my brunch of Economy Rice (菜饭), I had stewed preserved Chinese mustard (焖梅菜) with pork belly, a piece of steamed minced pork patty and soft silky steamed egg to go with the pack of white rice.
